Where do the forgefather and the master of the forge go?

In one of the drop pods with tatical marines. Forgefather in one master of forge in the other.

what about heavy weapons?,

I don't really like the idea of combat squads and a free multi melta isn't a bad idea in the sqauds but more than likly ill be poding in my oppenents face.

You might as well give the tactical squads some heavy weapons. I would give them combimeltas instead of the combiflamers on the most part.

Otherwise I think you lack ranged attack. You need a plan B just in case the enemy does something different and the drop pods are left at home.

Yea I think your right I should take combi flamers and ill give them multi metlas it wouldn't hurt to have them my biggest enemy for this army would be warp quake grey knights.

12 models in a drop pod I'm pretty sure.

Well, If that is the case, I love the fluffyness of the list. I would love to pay against it to be honest.

I would love to play this list I don't have enough money to build it right now this is a tournament list I want to make.

So for clarification how would you play it?

Which 5 pods would you drop turn one and which would you leave for the rest? I'm assuming you'd leave the tactical marines for later and a drednaught?

Could do alot of damage - I just feel it would enjoy a nice firebase.

Wouldn't you just love it if you could choose either 2 special weapons instead of just 1 special and one heavy. :( almost makes me want to start some SW

Not really since this list is an idea I've been working on for quite a long time. I useally play csm daemons or de marines is a side idea. And I would leave the tactical marnies for later and bring the dreads in first.

It's generally not a great Idea to have TOO many concentrated points targets like the dreadnoughts, a massive chunk of you list is something I could take out in 1-3 turns with broadsides.

But it would definitely pack a punch!

They will most likely survive your first round of shooting, being T5 2W TEQs, with the strongest gun in the game and the option for plasma.

Plus I get 2 of them with a few points left over for every dread you have.

Trick is... what do you do if your opponent puts his army into reserve? I play a balanced list with a pod element, and people still put their armies into reserve most of the time.

That's could be a problem if they put there army in reserve I would have to pick the right units to drop I first.

This is also a fear of mine, with all my armies. An empty battle field is like playing battle ship. But first turn gives away there position. Infaltrating scouts, drop pods, any force that is split will show weekness against an absent opponent.

I've been struggling with this for a while now... what I've done to cope is build a balanced, multi-tiered list. I still have pods for certain units... the other units I've chosen however, have other uses while still being able to support an alpha-strike.

My army points out best from 1750-2000. I use two tac squads in las/plas razorbacks as mobile troops with effective 54" range. A scout bike squad with 3x astartes grenade launcers, PW, MB & homing beacon for pinpoint drops and T1 assaults vs. vehicles or infantry. They can outflank if a pod drop is not advised (and those grenade launchers really come in handy). Two 5-man scout squads w/ combi-plas & MB in LS Storms w/ MM for T1 assaults vs. vehicles or outflanking and as highly mobile troops. My podded elements are sternguard (which also can be used to sit and shoot at up to 30" range) with libby HQ, and a dread w/ TL LC and HF. With a second podded Iron Clad if points allow.

The whole thing works together rather nicely and is nearly as effective without alpha-striking as it is when I can. I wouldn't claim that it's "competitive"... but it's flexible and darn near everyone has to really "fight" it to beat it. And if I do get to alpha-strike, everything on the table participates one way or the other.

Something for you to think about anyway. Building in some flexibility is either necessary... or you have to come up with an alternate use for your alpha-strike... like podding in and claiming some important part of the board, or controlling a part of their board edge & making them come on in a restricted area where the terrain may be less favorable or there are no objectives. Just be sure you don't pod into an assault army or they'll hand you your *ss. (I did that once... ONCE. Won't happen again.)

Also, a bunch of pods can really screw with a mechanized army's ability to move if you can use them in conjunction with impassible or difficult terrain. Even if you bring them down empty (which you can always choose to do). Be careful though as you'll be handing them kill points.

I confused them with XV9s but anyways, I run 4 in 1000pts, 6 in 1500 and the maximum 9 in 2000. Upwards of 2000 I start to use XV9s more, with only the original nine XV88s

Kroot konga line is what I do. Cover their entire board edge with kroot, if you bring enough kroots, you can do it legally too. And then they can't use their army.
