Drone without a Controller






You have alot of pathfinders but dont have a proportionally sized firepower units to use them. Only 2 squads of battlesuits and one squad of broadsides.

HQ
im assuming ur gonna join the xv8 squad with your HQ?

Elites
with 4 gun drones, your majority toughness will become 3 instead of 4. With one squad of deathrains you dont have enough firepower to take down a wide variety of targets

Troops
Too many warfishes, you dont want ur troop transports to be in danger in the first place so dont make them your firepower

FA
Again, warfish problem. and that second pathfinder group is excessive for how many shooting units you have. Ideally if you have 2 pathfinders, you should have a large amount of shooting, ie lots of squads of battlesuits. having 10 markerlights that only have a squad of deathrains, hamemrheads and broadsides within rainge of the markerlight (and the broadsides and hammerheads already have a targetting array), you dont need that many markerlights.

HS
Generally fine, but why cose burst cannons over sms? the 18" BC means your tank will be in charging range of some specialist troops

From this, too many points in FA and HS. Majority of our firepower are with elites, hammerheads are used for their blast weapons (and being a mobile decoy for the enemy), solid shot is unreliable. Most of your hammerheads wont survive the game. From what i see, you are gonna have a lot of trouble with power armor armies (which is the majority of the armies around)

I like your list, especially with the fu necron comments XD

The only thing I don't entirely like is the gun drones with your stealth suits. I know they are nice for soaking wounds and all, but I would put on BF instead.

Eh... not if the commander joins them, which would make it 4... and he plans on joining the commander to them I bet.

There is no such thing as too many warfishes. I find that even though they are over-priced, they are an integral part of most successful Tau armies... its a big investment of points, but it is usually worth it.

I think that the number of pathfinders is a bit excessive, I'd get rid of 2-4 in each unit.

Burst cannons are 1/2 price of SMS, and you get 2 more shots... awesome!!
With the latest Tau errata and FAQ, SMS is about as good as 2 burst cannons.. so I try not to tell people to take one over the other, because they both have their advantages and disadvantages.

With all those Markerlights, you may want to consider jamming 8 seeker missiles into that list; it's a nice opening volley against deathstar style lists, or just slaughtering long fangs. But really, I'd like to see at least 3 more crisis suits in there. You're sinking a lot of points into those pathfinders, which have very little to support.
