So as it was presented on GW website :
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=&prodId=prod1410003a
and
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1410004a

So how much to you anticipate from this product. Do you think it would be a good investment for both new and veterans players?

Gotta say, the saving is pretty bloody decent.
Skaven, high elf, marines and dark eldar have one each currently.

Around £200 each in value, nearly half price.
Bravo GW

Wow that's an impressive price. Not completely impressed with the contents. It seems like they just threw a bunch of models in the box and stuck a tag in it. Pity I chose to start Orks and not dark eldar cuz I would've bought at least 1 box of those lol.

Not at all. They've got some elites, troops, a commander, vehicles - it's a complete and varied army, in either case. Sure, the contents don't resemble your typical min-maxed net-list, but that doesn't mean they couldn't be played as-is.

Now, if I were even slightly cynical, I might assume that GW's boxed sets were designed to contain a number of less than popular models so as to move otherwise stagnant stock, relying on a majority of desirable models and the effect of "discount" being stamped across the box in big, glowing letters (metaphorically, of course, in that last bit) to make people overlook the fact that they're paying for things they don't want. You know, if I were cynical.

Well I know that on eBay there are peoples previewing the Megaforce for the Orks, thought I don't know if you can trust them. Searching around the web, I heard and saw pictures showing there are currently developping megaforces for the SM, DA, Tau and Orks.

The Orks just had a Megaforce, if they were going to come out with another id think they would just use the old one again.

They do two armies in Megaforce for 40K, last time around it was Orks and Tau (if I remember correctly), now it's Space marines and Dark Eldar (Possibly DE are coming back for the starter set... a theory in part supported by the starter Fantasy armies getting a megaforce). I'm not sure if fantasy has done it in the past, but I expect it'll just be the two armies.

The high price hurts to have to be paid in a single instant, but who knows? I think people who also want to collect the models more than play with them may be interested in the wide range of contents in the boxes.

Competively, I'd say that most people will buy the units they need and not large boxes like these.

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

The value is quite good but i still wouldn't buy it. There are simply too many units i would never use in each box. ( the Landraider for example or the Dark Eldar bikes ).
Still, for those who can expect to use most of the stuff in there the megaforces are a pretty fine buy.
