OK, so I will have to first off apologize for another one of these threads, but this is the first time I have truly defended someone outside of the 40k universe, so it deserves a look see I think.

the Players are River Tam of Joss Whedon's Firefly TV show and a single Squad of Space Marines with the standard load out of; 9 brother marines with bolters, a Missile Launcher and A flamer, and there is also a sergeant with a bolt pistol and Power Weapon.

River Tam (http://www.fireflywiki.org/Firefly/RiverTam) is a physically, and mentally modified 17 year old super soldier, she is considered the ultimate weapon in the firefly universe.


Here, River Tam Takes out three men with but a glance, she then proceeds to hit them with her eyes closed:




Here she owns an entire mercenary/underworld bar on her own, until her brother shows up:




This is the last scene I have of River Tam, she is shown here beating dozens of "Reavers" in the most awesome way. For those not in the know, Reavers are the worst of all of humanity, they are rage incarnate; raping, consuming, and using the skins of their victims for their clothing (and purportedly not necessarily in that order).




The only hang up that I can think of in this scenario is what weapons river has, presuming she can disarm one of the Marines she will be fine, which is not to impossible under the tenants of my postulation.

In the end I think River Tam would win in the above situation, location is not necessary, all that is needed is for River Tam to be aware of the Squad before the combat begins, whether the squad knows or not.

This debate is not about exterminatus, not air superiority, no tanks, or any of that really nasty stuff, I know she would get smashied, I just say she could beat the crap out of a single squad of marines.

I watched Firefly and Serenity, and awesome River Tam is in that, I just cannot see a 17 year old girl beating on a fully armed squad of Tactical Marines. I just cannot see it. Its not like her fists could break through ceramite plating, or anything.

Summer Glau would speak untold and terrible secrets of the universe to the space marines, causing them to be eaten alive by horrible eldrich angles from beyond time and space. They will be both acute and obtuse at the same time, and maintain a dark geometry that mortal minds cannot conceive of. Summer is coming, space marines. We hope you've brought those little battery operated fans.

Considering how exposed she was in the first video, anyone with half a brain could have fragged her.

SM would have no problem.

She's dead in less than a second.

For the record, I love firefly and serenity, but after River Tam gets one good shot from a sidearm she may or may not have or does some form of fancy special martial art move, a Astartes would cuff her in her pretty little head and knock her unconcious, bag her for the Black ship , and she would have a express trip to terra, where she may or may not feed the Astronomicon's eternal thirst for psykers.

Sorry River, but on the bright side she may be chosen to be soul bound and become a sanctioned psyker, who knows.

River would beat the 'little blue space men' into a pulp without a second thought.

She would probably beat 10 Guardsmen, who would be roughly the equivalent to what she fought in those scenes. But 10 marines? undoubtedly they have fought worse than that witch and survived.

She might get 1 or maybe 2 marines in her alpha strike. After that it's just done.

God bless Netflix, eh? I watched it a while back too. And assuming the Space Marines had no grenades, River would probably win. If they had grenades, she'd be a hot little splat on the side of a wall.

Surely River Tam vs Lelith is a much better proposition? Now that would be one interesting cat fight...
