What is the general rule or standard for planning an army? I'm basically wondering why 2400 is frequently used as a basis for lists.

2400 makes working out the percentages easy - 600 Lords/Heroes, 600+ Core, 1200 Special, 600 Rare.

2500 here because thats the tournament size.
2400 is easy to divide but then again 2500 means 625 is the lord and hero max the core min and 1250 is the special limit.
It leaves 100 extra points of stuff.
I like playing 2999 because you can have lots of stuff but its not silly like ok 6 cannons.

lol I always wondered why 2400 was popular on forums, too. Now it seems so obvious >_> In my area it's 2000, 2500, 2999 pt tourneys. (2999 to prevent Grand Army rules, of course).

I've heard anywhere between 2000 and 3000 (2999 to be specific)
Personally, my preference is 3000. Bigger is always better in Fantasy.
