What is GW's stance on using other bits on mostly GW parts?

I know it was like 75% must be GW or something like that... head swaps and the likes...

But what about Turrets? Tread/outer pieces? Creatures ridden by rough riders?

Would, say, a Chimera using a turret provided by a 3rd party conversion source, invalidate my chimera's use at a Games Day. For example?

Check with the specific event, as the rules seem to be very flexible.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

It really varies from TO to TO, for the most part, they won't raise too much of a stink about anything, but it is always worth checking.

I don't think GW has an official stance anymore, because I don't think GW likes to admit that 3rd party bits creators actually exist. Unless they're suing them, and even then it's not like they're open with it.

They just shut us Blood Bowlers down finally. The Blood Bowl or now the NAF Championships for next year will be no non gw models. That one probably more than any other GW games is hurt the most.Considering alot of us are using badly out dated models. Also their is some teams that they do not even make.Which this is a really bad decision because they turned the Blood Bowl championships over to the NAF.But also i understand their stance.Their game and house. But in the end all they are doing is slowly hurting the customer base. That is why i boycott the GW stores.I still buy Gw models just not from their stores and started to play Flames of War instead of 40k and Fantasy.

Any official statement? After the fuss made over their interference with the last edition of the LRB this further step should get a bit more attention.

Any links there? Or idea of where to hunt.

I'm going to take that, then go to GW for an official statement regarding it and, say...Chimeras with non FW/GW turrets.

Here. The army in question is from a "tournament regular" local to Nottingham. The only thing that stuck out to me as Privateer Press was the Watcher in the Water, but I don't know the Hordes range well.

That guy's Bloodletter regiment features a couple of Legion of Everblight models. Can't remember what they're called. Spell Martyrs?

Why? You will 100% lose. Seriously think about it: You're going to go ask GW if you can take a 3rd party model to FW open day. The answer will be no. Regardless of what appears in a picture on the GW site. No one at GW is going to say "Sure, bring it along". Someone upstairs might not like it and they get slammed for it. The safe answer is "NO, official GW event, bring official GW models.".

If you ask the question, they have to answer, the answer is No.

If you just walk in with the model and play a game, even if someone notices, they may just shrug and not care.

This is like asking for an appointment with your supervisor to ask if it's ok that you were late to work.

I've found that staff members turn a blind eye if their not explicitly pointed out by someone, and even then they only say "would you mind not using those" if they're on thier high horses. Right now there's a bunch of non scratch built Primarch models in the GW Glasgow store with a ton of Scribor and other company's stuff on them. =P

I don't think it's a 100% sure thing.

Think about it, if you have the Chimera with a 3rd party turret you've already bought the whole Chimera (with turret) whether you use the turret or not, which is what GW should care about. It's different than going to a GW event with (for example) a Pig Iron Productions armored transport as a Chimera.

Wait, no, I'm using common sense which GW doesn't have. Sorry bro, no 3rd party turrets for you.

Bass, like the fish. No, I have no idea why.

I've used armies with practically 50% non-GW parts in a store, and that was with an idealistic young chap as a manager who sadly who already signed off his internal organs upon death to his parent company.

It's all about not drawing attention to it, kind of like copying cassette tapes back in the day, if you keep your head down and don't go stomping about exclaiming it is your god-given right, then you will probably be OK.

Well it isn't like I am out to save money (check my blog, 10 DKoK horsemen for example) - its just a pain to, you know, custom make 100+ guardsmen heads vs buy a whole bunch of gas mask heads.

I guess I'll hand make everything when I get to them. When GW asks why I'm not using their products. I'll hit them in the face with my fist and leave a neatly printed photo of the pre-painted greenstuff.

The caption under the model says the mini has been sculpted by the creator.

The Bloodletter unit does contain non GW models. Did anyone notice that it is the only picture that can't be expanded.
