Did a quik google search and came up with nothing. I want to paint my crons with an aged bone theme. No metalic whats so ever. I am looking for black rods for their weapons. Any ideas? I think the black will offset the bone white sharply, may be to much though I dont have a test mini yet but I think this would be a pretty cool looking army.

Prime green rods black?

Or you could buy acrylic rod from a modeling company. You're looking for 1/16, iirc.

Or better yet, just gloss black spray them. That way you get the shiny thing going for you.

Thanks for all the great responses. I know I could paint them black and ard coat them. I was hoping for a translucen look like the green rods. I may have to use a midnight purple or blue rod. Thanks again.

This is just a guess, but maybe you get some clear acrylic rod and dye it black. Like I said, just a guess but probably worth trying.

You could also perhaps use the nightshade product for "tinting" headlight/taillights in cars.

The translucent color you are looking for is "smoke", rather than black.

Tamiya makes a translucent "smoke" paint that might work if you airbrush it onto clear acrylic rod.

Be carefull with the Tamia smoke though. If you airbrush it on until you get the colour you want, it will dry much darker.

I learned that the hard way on another project where I wanted a lightish tint. Sprayed it on until it looked right, and left it to dry. Came back and it was almost solid black. Had to strip the model and start all over again.

I don't think you want 1/16th. Pretty sure it's actually 3/32 or 5/32. I can check when I get home.

The rods are 2.4mm diameter, making them just slightly bigger than 3/32 inch Imperial measurement.

3/32" if I recall. I bought some blue acrylic from Plastruct, in California, not dark enough, I'll use it for something else, I guess.
