So this is take 2, here goes:
HQ:
Captain
-Jump Pack, Artificer Armor, Power Sword
Librarian
-Smite, Vortex of Doom
Elites:
Dreadnought
-TL lascannon
Troops:
Tactical Squad
-10 marines, 1 flamer, 1 lascannon, Sarge w/ Meltabombs, Rhino
Tacitcal Squad
-5 marines, Razorback w/ TL Lascannon
Fast Attack:
Assault Squad
-5 guys, power fist for Sarge, Plasma Pistol for a regular
Heavy Weapons:
Predator
-Heavy Bolter Sponsons
Any thoughts? The captain + assault group has so far been devastating when they come in. I know that it's not standard, but my experience with them has been stellar.

And again, too much HQ, too few Troops. Drop one or the other characters, get more Scoring units.

IMO, running two HQ's at marine prices for a 1k ame is too many. I'd stick with one. As an ork player, at 1k points, you're facing a couple battlewagons, a squadron of warbikes, and some lootas. The captain is a dangerous HQ, but will go down. I'm not sure what I would add in. Many marine players do not use assault squads, but it's style and tactics. The rhino squad would probably do better with a melta or maybe a plasma gun instead of the flamer. Are you combat squading it and putting the close range in the rhino?

Okay, I'll take out the librarian and run more troops. I'll have two full squads of 10, 1 squad of 10 in the rhino, split the other squad into combat squads (1 in the razorback) and the other combat squad with the lascannon hanging back for support.
The reason I had two HQs was because I knew the captain is a risky play and didn't want to loose all my HQs. I just got back into the game and 5th Edition mission objectives are new to me.

Vanilla marines suffer at 1000 pts. A good list will be a strange token army they can not really be expanded. I would recommend asking about 1500 pt army to work to and from which to restrict back to 1000pts.
In general I would go for all rhinos or all razorbacks.
Razorbacks go at dreadnought speed and the ML(lascannon upgrade is a good choice by the way if you didn't have so many of them already) can sit with the pred. so razorbacks are looking good.
Dreads should go 2TLAC if you want long range shooting from them as they are cheap.
Then we have the 2 HQs and having an assault squad. How about Nullzone for the librarian. Then get the extra 5 men for the tac. squad and either assault termies and give the librarian gate or a another 2TLAC dread and a pred. Slightly guessing points values now but hopefully my thoughts are clear enough.
