Ok I decided to begin a new army and settled upon a chapter I always to develop, both fluff wise and model, and being tired of all the goody goody imperials that abound now, so I settled upon the Emperor's douche bags, and general meanies...
Marines Malevolent
Now before I delve into all the fluff and nonsense I settled upon a paint scheme, the published colors were yelow and black, and to me looked a little to imperial fist, so I changed the yellow to a desert yellow, and decided to implement a crusade camo pattern, all of this is in line with my vision of a Chapter that does whatever is effective for the mission.
Also I have addressed the tendency of them to loot wargear and such from the battlefield and the speculation as to the chapter's standing with the mechanicus, the Chapter is growing its numbers beyond what is "codex" approved in preperation for a crusade, and befitting their tradition of non-cooperation will be spearheading it alone, and to that end have dispatched 1-2 company size elements into warzones to both assist the empire and salvage needed gear for this expansion . ( not wanting to draw undue attention from the tech adepts of mars with increased reqisition requests ).
I have more fluff and secret aggendas to follow but now on to the first model....
My intention is for a more austere and unadorned look, basically a practical military style, and will be followed with some attached IG regiments for the crusade.
Much more to follow.....

Very realistic looking conversion work! I have the same vision for my Raptors Space Marines, but with jungle fighting theme. Looking forward to see your marines!

Nothing like Space Marine's accepting what they are a bunch of brain washed douche's woot. Getting my Marine's Malevolent company on the go. Almost no close combat going for again a more realistic army using shooting first and cqc as a last resort as it should be.

Well I will respond for My MArines Malevolent since they are not the nicest sorts .
I appreciate the compliments, and the first squad will be done this week maybe in a day or 2.
@Malroke : feel free to post up your stuff here if you like, I would be happy to make a co-operative effort on these marines, feel free to PM me and we can brainstorm on the fluff and such. would be much fun to collaborate.
@sieek : nope no sponge just a brush and properly watered down paint.

Looking awesome. I love your take on the Marines Malevolent. I agree, the traditional scheme is treading a bit on the Imperial Fists look, and your paintscheme is definitely more realistic/gritty, and still rings of the Malevolent Marines.

@ Malroke I like the sgt the desert yellow could stand a bit of intesifiying but otherwise has a nice battlefield look to him.
As we discussed for our co- op effort, I will be making the 2nd cohort 1st company of the Marines Malevolent, and to make this a fully rounded effort we can do some former battle fluff stories to flesh out the 6k years of malevolence
Besides it will be useful for designing some special characters and units for the custom chapter, although it will generally adhere to most of the codex vanilla marines, just with some characterful departures.

Loving the predator! Looks nice n' rugged.
Am going for a similar look with my own space marines. Though the colours are more garish. So i am very interested to see how this turns out.
( Be warned, My painting doesnt hold up to Macro lol.)
Oh btw the fact someone else has decided to start a similar themed army has pushed me back into modelling after a couple months of laziness. Currently chopping up marine legs to get some varied poses, Which is super difficult

@Perkustin : I Like the paint job, looks pretty nice, not garish really, a bit more bold of a highlight but still is effective.
And what is the similar themed army, mine or someone else, I have actually started a collabrative effort with Malroke to flesh out the Marines Malevolent.
But its good to hear you have been shocked outta laziness , keep up the good work!

I meant, Judging from the predator, that you are going for elite vets rather than Gothic space knights. Which is what i am trying to go for.
So are you just doing the vehicles and Malroke the marines?

nope each of us are doing a seperate "Cohort" of the Marines Malevolent, I am doing the 2nd Cohort 1st company, and he is doing the 3rd Cohort 1st company, some of the fluff we have developed is the MM are a oversized Chapter that has some fairly dark secrets that explain their conduct upon the battle fields, basicaly we took a under developed GW chapter and ran with them.
But yes not space knights in anyway, a practical ruthless fighting force, with minimal standard marine conventions, been hashing out some special characters and such as well, great fun!

I'll be watching this one. I picked the Marines Malevolent as a scheme to paint a marine this week. It's just a one-off though.

Looks very nice Howard A Treesong, but still to Imperial fisty for me
I did a few test minis and could not fall in love with yellow on a army....just does not sing for me.
A desert yellow with a campaign camo pattern is my leanings now, with some other conventions as well. working on my first 5 marines as we speak. Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok last update tonight and first test model pretty much done minus basing and unit markings.
Need to eventually make me a photo booth, so my pics do them a bit more justice, but oh well, pretty satisfied with it so far, has a nice Malevolent feel.

Here is a special character/ unit Bastard Dagnir of the Marines Malevolent. Bastards are individuals so callous and insensitive that everyone refuses to work with, they prefer it this way being lone killers ready to rip apart the enemy with a fury Unmatchable of any other chapter. They have no corruption in their gene seed and have not gone crazy they usually have seen something so horrific or heart rending their thirst for vengance against the enemy increases ten fold, pushing their bodys to absolute limits using previously un-thought of set ups and gear reflecting part of their personality. Dagnir was on mission with his tactical squad doing what they thought was a mop up mission unfortunatly this was not the case, ambushed on all sides by Ork's innumerable they fought on not giving a single inch of ground. Slowly but surely Dagnirs squad were being felled by choppa slugga and grizzled Ork. Finally only Dagnir stood suffering a horrific facial injury. The Marines Malevolent ThunderHawk Fingolfin Elensar swooped in rescuing Dagnir from certain doom. Two of his battle brothers dragged him on-board and laid him down and moved off to man their positions. Dagnir awoke suddenly from unconsciousness. Something in him stirred he could not leave his battle brothers bodys to be looted by the repulsive green skins. He rose up strapping on a jump pack and "acquired" a assault cannon and storm shield to weather what ever stood before him, he overrode the lock on the deployment hatch leaping out guiding himself 30,000 feet through the air landing back among his fallen battle brothers and the unsuspecting Orks. He let out a roar so primal, blood curdling and filled with regret as he commenced mowing down every Ork he could. By this point the Thunder Hawk Fingolfin Elensar had radioed in to their battle group reporting the situation and what had happened. The Marines Malevolant 3rd Cohort 1st company responded immediately by deep striking in no less then 50 battle brothers on Dagnirs position, the slaughter lasted just over 5 hours by the end of it Dagnir stood in his immovable foot prints in the ground with slain Orks laying all around him. Still with utter vengance and sorrow in his eyes........ This is just a 1st draft of his story/background i welcome constructive criticism tell me what you think

Awesome fluff, and I love the mini, now splash some paint on him!
At any rate we seem to be on the right track for the Marines Malevolent, and hopefully can keep it going.
And break up your paragraphs into more digestable blocks .
Other than that great work.
