Hi Guys,

I've recently started to consider using Njal and I know he's been a staple in Nova/Adepticon winning lists. However, I'm a bit torn if he's actually worth it vs. 2 rune priests given the FAQ that his -1 BS and difficult terrain powers do not work on the enemy turn if Njal goes second. I feel like those powers were a major reason to take him. The 2 rune priests give you stronger casting in some ways (Jaws/LL and MH/LL) allowing for 2 LL's until the enemy gets in range of jaws and murderous hurricane. At the end of the day, I guess you're paying ~35 points (chooser of slain on one priest) to get Njal's table, majesty and a 3+ dispel. I guess that still sounds pretty good.

On another note, can you cast murderous hurricane on a unit is that more than 18 inches away to give them the difficult terrain effects, but ignoring the 3D6 hits?

Generally run Njal and a Rune Priest, and a T-wolf Lord.

Yes according to RAW it works just fine, it also makes all terrain dangerous.

In my experience Njal has always been worth it. I even take Njal and another RP in 2k+ games. While the FAQ on the powers was a kick in the pants it certainly didn't nerf Njal.

The benefit of a 3+ nullification of Psychic powers over a 4+ can't be overstated imo. With GK all over the place and their reliance on Psychic powers the 3+ is indispensable imo. If I am playing my SW Njal is in 75% of my lists (the other 25% is Bjorn at this point) and if I am playing my GK Njal is target priority number 1.

Njal is a pimp. He always wins the prize when I'm up against him. Getting him off the board ASAP is a priority.

Just to be clear, I think the consensus is that if you do play him, everyone is going to target him first. Something that might not happen with 2 rune priests.

If I am playing my GK I would target the two RP first also, no difference there.
