I have a friend that plays his WoC Nurgle all the time. It has actually led to one of our friends(plays ogres) refusing to play against him ever again. His list is legal, he found the right formula. It is mostly set up with 2 30-40 man units(nurgle) with at least 2-3 characters in each. 1 mage and 1-2 lord-hero/BSB. He takes the shrine and 1 to 2 KoC units, depending on points. His army is very tough to beat. I play against him all the time changing from army to army. I play VC, skaven, DE and night gobbos. With the gobbos and ratz I don't ever expect to win but do draw occasionally. My main problem is figuring out what units to take with my VC or DE to beat him. His entire army is -1 this or -1 that and it gets really tiresome. Please help with some suggestions on how to deal with this. Thanks

For Vamps just bring the crown of here is my WS and crush him as MoN does nothing against WS 7

To beat warriors there is a simple formula if you are an elf.
Mindrazor thats it simply hit them and they die and you go first.

Ignoring armor is also another good thing.

Mon is not particularly strong but against ws 3 and 6 it is quite effective as well as shooting.

Skaven can usually do a good job if you hit them with the - toughness spell.
As well as wlc and hpa do a great job.

As ogres Ironblasters combined with mournfangs should do pretty well.
Str5 impact hits attacks and stomps are scary to warriors.
The big ol thunder tusk slows em down for you so that is always a plus and shadow magic will do wonders.

Remember it is only -1 ws in cc.

For VC grave guard with the fancy banner that makes em hit on 2s and then magic buffs i think it is the really nasty set up for the gg should do as well as banshee screams help a lot.

How so Johnny? The mark doesn't affect his models tho it should. They are still ws 5 str 4 ini 4. and it screws all my shooting and cc.

Skaven, Warp Lightning Cannons. Poison Wind Globes. Warpfire Thower. Mortar. Not to mention spells.

Throw as many templates as him as you can and non-BS/WS attacks.

As said above, Ogres can cannon and catapult. They have lousy WS/BS, as that's the Ogres. You could alternately try and throw some Giants at him. They can really wreak havok and take a while to kill while your guys go to work on flanks. And he likely won't have any siege weapons to take them out as a Hellcannon alone probably won't do it.

I just realized you play night goblins. Spam fanatics and watch his list just vaporize

Yeah, gonna put together 4-6 25 gobbo units with no command and 3 fanatics each and run with manglers on the flanks. Hopefully this will work.

It should, he's got no reliable way to get rid of the manglers before they hit his lines.

With VC's, just use the 1 list we're shoehorned with anyways! (it's seriously the only way to be competitive right now)

Caster Lord w/Helm 'o WS, MotBA's, FL, 4++, Earthing rod.
Wight King BSB w/Dickenhof Banner
Thrall w/Ghoulkin, rest to flavour

2-3 40'ish strong Ghoul units
1x 20 skeletons w/standard bearer. (bunker for lord, plus additional banner for blood & glory mission)
40 Grave Guard w/great weapons, Barrows Banner

Rares to flavour.

Point it at him, and watch his army disinitgrate.
Ghouls care not for -WS thanks to poison which will even the odds. Use the helm on your GG and they'll massacre whatever they hit. (only a tzeentch chosenstar has any hope against these guys)

Boring as all gak, but it's rediculously effective and your friend will likely scream "VC's are brokenz!1!!!!11!1!!" afterwards.

HAHA, that's great. The list I have ready is very similar to that. Will post later how it does. I am using my VC today and hope to in the 'Ard Boyz this year, that's if GW doesn't screw our book up if it is getting released next month.

Ok. First 2 games today I played my VC against WoC, 3000 pts. Got my butt handed to me. So I got my night gobbos out and slammed the WoC into the ground. Massacre! in 4 turns. Anyhow, I don't wanna hear anyone complain that the orc....enough on that. It just really surprises me how well they do. I'm at 1 lose, 2 draws, 1 minor victory and a massacre with my gobbos since the book came out. Looks like I'm taking them to the "ard Boyz and now to start painting. Oh boy that's alotta models. Yah OnG are a real sleeper book in my mind. Consistently second and 3rd in my local tournaments. They are just a great well rounded book. Props on the wind

Yep, fanatics just pulverise WoC blocks. Few 20-30 man units of goblins loaded up with fanatics, watch those Warrior blocks disappear.

Lol. I was told today that my night gobbo list was cheesy. I laughed and said no cheesier then some of the lists I've had to play against. I had 21 fanatics on the table and 3 manglers. The list is like this.

Nothing is funnier than playing chaos lists with 9 squads of night goblins. 27 fanatics just wreck shop. Now I also don't run this list very often as its kind of borring as a general but great fun in friendly games.

Ogres are the only book that MoN is good against IMO, having to hit everything on 5+ ruins a combat oriented army. A

You mean your OK friend hasn't loaded up on mournfangs & ironblasters yet?! Apparently word has it that WoC don't like those units one bit, even nurgle!

MON Halberd Warriors spank Mournfang down

He doesn't really have any money right now so he only owns 2 mournfang. I keep telling him to proxy but he won't. He also plays HE so his next list will be with them. He doesn't have alot of HE so he will proxy with some of my DE. Coarse gaming will probably be on stand by til after Christmas now. I changed my NG list up a bit the other night. I took out 10 hoppers and 1 mangler and added in a 24 NG bow unit. Now I have somewhere to put my mages.
