Perhaps add some pictures as well for people like the above? The hills with the trees and small rocks on them at around 3:30ish were nice.

Dude, this is the painting and modelling SHOWCASE, where people are to showcase finished, painted and based hobbystuff.
You can also properly embed videos in this board, and/or provide Fotos.
Overall, the one thing you truly had finished in that video looks semi-decent, though I personally wouldn't play on it.
This thread is wrong in this section of the Forum.
Still, valiant effort, and I can see you improving fastly, if you stay on the ball and keep going

I don't want to be human! I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! And I want to - I want to smell dark matter! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can't even express these things properly because I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid limiting spoken language! But I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws! And feel the wind of a supernova flowing over me! And I can know much more! I can experience so much more. But I'm trapped in this absurd body! |

for the trees you made out of actual tree I would suggest wrapping the bottom of the trunk in masking tape and priming it black and adding some textured paint or some such to make it look like the tree has a large trunk rather than 4 thin trunks.

Ok guys, give me some time to work. This is the first time i've ever tried making a video, and first time i've ever showcased my terrain work. Sorry i didn't think about people who can't veiw Youtube for certain reasons, I'm trying to get a good quality camera so they will look as good as i can make them. And you don't have to say you won't play on them and all that, as far as i'm concerned its a big step up from DVD case and i'm proud of the work i've done so
But thanks for the actual comments, and hopefuly i should be able to have photos up by today. For the base of that tree, i'm molding in a trunk with hot glue, but if that doesn't turn out the way i want masking tape will sufice

The footage was pretty good actually so the camera you were using is fine. You need to work on your lighting as it's a bit dark at the moment, particularly noticeable when you placed that marine in shot. You are also moving the camera around too much which doesn't give enough time to look at what you are showing though many people seem to do this for some reason.
What I reckon would be best is to take some still shots and then add some moving footage to show the overall effect.
I think those pine type trees could do with some dullcoat or similar as they are too shiny (alien plants aside). Ignore unhelpful comments like "I wouldn't play on that", especially when no reason is given. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and in regards trees with four skinny trunks instead of a big one, they're common in real life. A lot of trees will grow more than one trunk, particularly the smaller ones. Automatically Appended Next Post: For gnarled old trunks, roots are better than twigs if you can find them from a suitable sized plant (preferably dead of course).

I can view the vid now. I like the terrain texture you get with the board. I think the bases of your trees look a little thin. If you bulked them up a bit it would add a good bit of realism to them.
