Hello everyone.

Long time lurker of Dakka, recently had an idea that I did not see in here, so I thought I could share it !
Just bought a stormraven, and I had a spare Grey Knight from a box. Add a few spare parts, and voila !

Since I consider myself very far from a good modeller / painter, the whole thing is done without any green stuff or advanced conversion techniques.

Feedback appreciated !
(I know, basecoating got messy)

Pretty awesome, but a bit odd using a standard Boltgun instead of his Storm Bolter?

Since a stormraven does not have shooting holes, I just figured one of the crewmen getting angry and grabbing whatever weapon was near.

While this little conversion is cool, it shows how ridiculous GW's vehicle scales are.

Simple, but effective (well, barring the scale issues, which are nigh impossible to overcome). I agree, though, that a bit of cleanup on the GK model wouldn't be amiss. Now is the time, since he could use another dusting of spray to even things out, anyway.

I like it, it's a very natural pose that you achieved. Well done!

Very nice, I like it!
How about adding some spent bullet casings being ejected out of the bolter? You can find some in the ork boyz box.

Hes shooting at the dumb ass that thought it would be funny to shoot bottle rockets at a Storm Raven entering the atmosphere.

WIP - Paint in progress

Pro tip : paint BEFORE glueing the whole damn thing together...

PS : I know my grey knights ain't grey. Think of them as blood knights. Or greyish red knights. Or color blind grey knights.

@ MrMerlin : but you might want to take off the mould lines... looks much better then!

What are you refering to? The one on the GK or on the stormraven?

@ StoneRaizer: Simple yes, but it looks good and helps to make your army your army.

Happy you got my point : how to customize your army in a very simple (since I am a poor modeler) but efficient looking way.

Since it's simple, I thought it was worth sharing.

My only question is where would a Grey Knight get a bolter?

I suppose if he's vehicle crew he might not have the standard wrist-mounted stormbolter...

There are some bolters hanging on the inside wall of the stormraven (same as the rhino inside panel).

that is awesome, im diggin the color too.

hey pilots cant fly with that big storm bolter on his hand, he is just mad someone scratched his paint so hes getting payback. however if it was me i would have grabbed that Psycannon from the other GK on board and took out that little f***** like a fat kid in dodge ball.

I shall rename my chapter the Colorblind Grey Knights.
(I based the scheme on an idea found here, telling about offsprings of the GK called the exorcists I think, which main color is red).

Here is a footman (don't get crazy on the light effects, they are produced by a sligtly gloss effect from the pain and the light in the room, not mad skills which I do not possess):

Is it the lighting or do I see some Blazing Orange highlights?

Since that bright red paint scheme reminds me of Blood Angels, what about calling your chapter the Blood Knights?

The highlight effect is from the slight gloss effect from the paint. Blood knights or exorcists was the original plan (before the colorbling/st nicolas suggestions of course) - I'll check the BA decals to check if there is usable things, thx for the hint !

Assembled and based. Still need to work on the heraldry/decals, maybe some highlights if I'm in the taking risks mood.

An idea for the base is to mix some grass flock with some PVA glue to make a paste and model drifts and bumps. Make it look like the motion of the plane is blowing debris around. Once the paste is dry, mix some PVA glue with water 1:1, brush this over the drifts and then sprinkle grass flock over top to make it look fluffy. I've used this with snow flock to make snowdrifts so I'm thinking this technique could work with grass to achieve the look I mentioned.
