This event marks the end of the tournament season at one of the local shops in Rochester, NY. Players who place during their monthly events are invited back for a free tournament with great prize support.

This year's format was 1850pts with player ranked comp and painting. Each mission scored table quarters, 5 set objectives, and kill points with rotating primary, secondary, and tertiary priorities.

Here's the list I took:
Hive Tyrant + armored shell, old adversary, hive commander, devourers x2, paroxysm, leech essence
Tyrant Guard x3 + lash whips
Tyranid Prime + boneswords, toxin sacs, regeneration
Hive Guard x2
Hive Guard x2
Hive Guard x2
Genestealers x20 + broodlord w/talons
Genestealers x8 + toxin sacs
Genestealers x8 + adrenal glands
Gaunts x16 + devourers
Tervigon + catalyst, adrenal glands, toxin sacs

I stopped by the tournament on Turn 5 of this game and it was intense. That Tyranid Prime was absolutely brutal on the Dreadknight.

Overall a well played game on both sides. I thought the Tyranid list had a bit more raw power than the GK's in this matchup.

Yeah dual toxic boneswords are good stuff. I think the NDK only had 1 wound left though after the assault against toxic gaunts and genestealers. Being able to instakill Coteaz with the tervigon was key also.

My list was a bit harder than Paul's. No libby, GM, or dreads gave me some freedom in deployment and psy use. 10 terminators can be tough, but my list puts out 60 devourer shots a turn and his first set of saves was below average.

Good report Aaron, I thought Trevor was there as a ringer for some reason and not 'actually; playing in the tournament. I guess he got 'roped' into it at some point when he kept winning!

I am surprised he let his Long Fangs get assaulted by the Stealers on the outflanking roll. Once you locked in his firebase it was a foregone conclusion what was going to happen.

Yeah, I won that game in deployment I think. He could have deployed on the central edge of his quarter and nullified outflankers. He wasn't a ringer, but a runner up for an invite, and was asked to show in case we had an odd number since he won ardboyz semifinals.

I don't want to take from your win, I think he made miner errors and your plan was just better. That was a flawless execution of how to play the Nids. Great report as always mate!

Eye of Terror... I think

How would both of you nid players have delt with AV14 out of curiousity? looked at both lists and saw neither one of you had a strong answer for a monolith or landraider.

Also Im shocked there were no IG or BA in the finals.

Great batrep. You sir set the example for how the Great Devourer should play As a soon to been nid player this is great stuff to see

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

@ laughing god - BA took second overall with a rainbow list. Stormraven but no land raider. I believe there were 2 players out of 18 that brought av14 and I was lucky to dodge them I guess. Sometimes pairings work for you. Not to say it would have been an auto-loss, but in this scoring format there were a couple ways to out-play a rock unit in an av14 transport.
