Hi there,

We are proud to announce that, in 2012, Maelstrom Games will be renewing our partnership with Battlefront Miniatures to bring you the finest World War II wargame and miniatures out there - Flames of War!

FLAMES OF WAR IS BACK WITH MAELSTROM GAMES!
----------------------------------------------------------
We've missed it, we know you lot have missed it, so we approached, apologised and reconciled our differences with Battlefront so we could work together again to ensure 2012 will be a great year for wargaming!

Flames of War, of course, has expanded greatly in 2011 and we will be bringing you all of the superb new releases from this year as well as everything else in Battlefront's rather enormous range of miniatures. Whilst it will take time to build up stock, Battlefront's speedy order turnaround times will ensure that even if the items you want aren't in our warehouse or you can get them very quickly. We will, however, be stocking our store almost immediately, thus ensuring that if you visit the Eye of the Storm you should be able to grab what you need on the day.

Wargames Illustrated magazine and Gale Force Nine hobby products will also return, needless to say (for which we all rejoice), although it may take a day or so to get Gale Force Nine and Wargames Illustrated on the webstore, so please be patient! We will also ensure our venue holds as many Flames of War events as we can possibly fit into the schedule, so watch out for those announcements.

All of the Flames of War items (barring the Vietnam War stuff, which again will appear at some point over the next couple of days) are now on the webstore, so feel free to order them from this point - as well as the superb new late war compilations, Grey Wolf and Red Bear, and all of those lovely new releases coming in January 2012!

All in all, 2012 is already proving to be a great year - and we're not even in January yet!

I wasn't aware that they stopped selling them, what caused the drama?

Yes, it looks like Maelstrom have acquiesced on the discount issue as as far I can see nothing is more than 10% off on the site (the figure set by Battlefront).

An interesting article Maelstrom posted when this first happened, http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/downloads/Public_Statement_Regarding_Battlefront_Miniatures.pdf

I guess Maelstrom want in on the forthcoming V3 of the game. Although, TBH there are other alternatives out there for the miniatures, many much cheaper than Battlefront's own. So I wonder in which direction was the apology?

TBH I stopped buying their miniatures when they switched production to Malaysia yet kept the prices at the same level, and just get the books these days.

Just got this mailshot. Nice to see a reconciliation, and I do hope it wasn't all one-sided and pro-BF, because frankly they acted like a right bunch of rude unprofessional spankers over the whole thing.

After the nonsense BattleFront pulled I'm surprised Maelstrom wanted back in.

Its a store and I'm willing to bet BF brings a lot of money since its a popular mainstream game these days, so I doubt any business man looking for a profit would not try to get all the golden egg chickens in.
As far as I'm concerned I think the infantry minis BF produces are some of the WORST 15mm's on the market...

That and Maelstrom just lost a good portion of their business thanks to Mr. Embargo.

IIRC Maelstrom said that they lost something like 20% of their sales when BF pulled the plug. So it is hardly surprising they want back into the frame.

Battlefront has rules and if you buy from them, you agree to those rules. Maelstrom wasn't abiding by them, and they lost access to BF miniatures.

Neither company does quite as much business, but probably hurt Maelstrom much more than BF, as other companies would pick up the slack.

Now both sides talk, Maelstrom agrees to abide by rules, the two sides are doing business again.

Actually not much more than standard day to day business.

Maelstrom agreed to Battlefront rules but lost the contract anyway.

I wish both companies well.

I'm surprised Mikhaila, did you not read about all the stuff that was going on at the time?

I know of course you can say that only Maelstrom was saying their side of the story and that BF wasn't there to defend themselves, but still I think the common conception is that BF didn't come out of it to well in terms of how they behaved.

Maelstrom stated their case pretty clearly, and it did not appear that they were doing anything wrong (especially when their discounts specifically excluded BF stuff). Then there were the dumb letters from BF themselves.

Like you said, you're only hearing one side. And of course there needs to be drama). Common conceptions formed by internet communities that only hear one side are going to be slightly biased towards that one side.) The interwebs demands drama and entertainment, villians and heroes. Someone to cheer for and someone to hate. Even now, with Maelstrom making up to BF, people are still trying to defend Maelstrom or make them out as a victim. They don't really need defending.

That's good business. They had disagreements with BF and have now put it behind them, worked out problems, and are proud to be carrying the line again. They benefit, BF benefits, customers benefit.
