Well, these would have gone into my P&M Blog, but I took not a single WIP picture. So, here we are.

I did not like the default Lychguard mickey mouse ears style heads, so I replaced them with a crest from the DE Kabalite Warrior box that I thought worked well for the purpose. I also intentionally used a much lighter base color ( Army painter, drybrushed with Chainmail, washed with thinned Asurmen blue).

At least 2 of the minis show "speckling" on the shoulderpad decal work that is nearly imperceptible in real life - my technique is now Mr. Mark Setter, apply decal, rub into place, let dry, Mr. Mark Softer, rub out wrinkles, let dry, touch up the highlights if needed, then paint with gloss varnish. Doing this before dullcoting the finished mini has led to really good decal work, although I still have a long way to go to get to Winterdyne levels.

C & C welcome as always, and my apologies for my awful photography. I still haven't mastered the art of getting more then 3 minis in focus all at the same time.

Wow, very awesome! You're right those crests do look so much better than the stock ones. I'll have to look into some of those. Very good looking color scheme. Very royal/regal looking.

They look great Ouze. In regards to decals though, I've had some success with Solvaset on decals after applying a gloss varnish to a finished model.

That is a crazy clean looking paint job. They almost look like living animation. Top notch.

Very crisp and precise painting. I love the models. I think they look a little too clean (no dirt/grime) may consider a wash but then again I am not sure you would want to tone those colors down. Fantastic paint job though.

With the exception of the faces, there isn't any part of the models that didn't receive some sort of a wash. They were just very thin, barely more then a glaze, and where it showed up more then I wanted to, I drybrushed it back down. Asurmen Blue on the armor (and touched up on the joints), Thraka Green on the blades, Devlan on the handle, and watered down Brown Ink on the Shining Gold, which was then drybrushed over with Burnished Gold.

As you said, the sort of clean look of these guys is very intentional and does not extend to my lower ranks of Necrons - these guys are tied with Praetorians for being as high as you can go in my dynasty as a non-royal. The rest of my army has a much darker palette by rank, such as for commoners, vassals, hirelings, and their constructs.

The Praetorians I have in the works will also have a similarly clean paintjob, once I decide how I want to do them. Which I haven't yet. I'm thinking mostly gold, like the studio ones, but I don't think I can pull off the job they did on the Rods of Covenant, so I might go in a different direction. I'm open to suggestions surely.

Hmm, for the rods of covenant you could probably just do a simple/basic blade color of boltgun and mithril silver colors if you don't feel like applying the same green you did on the war scythes.

For the Praetorians, why not do a psuedo-gold by doing a bright silver washed with Gryphonne Sepia (or if you still have any: Chestnut or Brown Ink)? I've seen that look pretty good on Necrons before.

I will try this - I have a little brown ink left, as well as Gryphonne sepia.

Where are you getting Solvaset? The only one I could find was $6, which is fine, but $7 shipping, which makes me a sad panda.

I usually get it from Squadron Shop, but I do it when I need to get some other stuff too so the shipping isn't too bad.

I presume Ouze used boltgun metal. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I primed them with Army Painter Plate mail, which I wasn't too thrilled with, and then drybrushed chainmail over.
