Does anyone have any good methods for painting canopies? (Eldar/Dark Eldar vehicles) I'd rather not keep the canopy clear as I never thought it looked particularly good. Just wondering if anyone has any methods they use for painting a convincing canopy so I can try it out on my Venom and Razorwing.

Thanks!

yeah,
I always paint my canopies.
I painted them green in my dark eldar.

And black in regular eldar.

Painting ontop of the plastic makes a matt colour and under it is more glossy.
With the dark eldar I painted the 'glass' colour under the plastic and the trim ontop of the plastic.
Also I painted in the targeting display before the glass colour...
I inked the edge of the trim, water tension holds the ink to crease.
This looks pretty good in my opinion.

Panic...

Nice, this is exactly what I was after (not the same colour scheme, but an idea how to do it)

I reckon I'll either paint mine dark purple or black so it contrasts a lot against the main colour. I'm painting Wraithkind which are more or less Hawk Turquoise so a dark colour should look decent.

Thanks for this Panic, helps a alot.

I do mine depending on whether or not I want whats under it to be seen - so far for my fighta bomba's its black with sliver trim/framing- for my assault craft its clear with black framing, and for the other fighta I have it will be clear and sliver. I know you've decided, just some extra thoughts.
