Awesome paint job. Is it me or is a tactical seargent lower than lord of the hunt or commander of the vanguard.

Well, Commander of the Vanguard isn't Captain of the 1st Company, so I figured he went back to taking tactical squads. Maybe to 'keep training new recruits' Telion style, or something!

I seem to have forgotten to post this guy up...

well, here is.

Brother-Captain Octavian of the 3rd Blood Ravens Company, Master of the Fleet, divine servant of the Emperor of mankind.

"Brothers, what we do in life, echoes, in eternity."
Octavian's past is an unusual one in the Blood Ravens ranks. His family hail from the distant planet of Ultramar. They were once proud nobles of the house of Ikanthar, on the Ultramarines home world. But upon finding out their family as a predisposition towards psychic development they were shunned and run out of the Ultramar Empire. Disgraced they fled North and settled on a baron rocky world of Cragulthar on the borders of Tau Space.

It was there they lived for 5 generations as farmers and cobblers. But never did they forget their roots, their family name or colours. Onwards down through the generations they passed their family great sword, 'Lion's Pride'.

It was to this world came the Blood Ravens, and as a young buy found Octavian, skilled already in the ways of swordsmanship, learned and wise as a noble but unbound by the arrogance or greed such lives naturally bestow. And also with the hidden seed of psychic power lurking within.

And so he was inducted to the Blood Ravens, and there he has served to this day, for over 230 years. Proudly does he bear the colours of his disgraced house and the crest of Ultramar upon his helmet. And one day, when he is Master of the Chapter, when his toll of deeds sits longer than Marneus Calgar himself he will return to his forgotten homeland, see his family honour restored and those who disgraced them, cast out to the winds.

couple things fluff wise space marines care little for the deeds they do. They do them for the honour of doing them not the eternal glory of it. To harbor such resentment and such is to walk the path of chaos. B: the chaptor master doenst really live up atm conversion wise to some fo your other models. Just saying compared to your other works he is rather well plan.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I quite like it actually and I'm sure it'll look amazing painted.

I love the way that the Calgar model looks with a helmet on in general, so I can't wait to see what a Roleplayer paintjob'll do for it

And in response to Calgar being a little plain,

Well, the Calgar model is already pretty heavily detailed, I don't think he needs that much to make him stand out any further.

I did consider wings, but it seemed over the top. One of the things I love about the Calgar model is he looks 'battle ready' walking into the enemy bolters firing, and I didn't want to lose that dynamic with too much random crap and a i thought a back banner would be silly, since he has a personal guard carrying his banner around for him. Granted, I didn't change that much from the usual model, but I will be using Calgar rules for him, so its important people can easily see he is Calgar, just convered to be a Blood Raven not an Ultramarine.

I felt the Dark Angel helmet wings that I use on a lot of my models on his terminator shoulder pads, would be enough to tie him into my army, also.

I'll glady take suggestions tho, if people think I should change something.

O H I am in the Webway...

For the Calgar model, having a raven mural on his cape and having a lot of ravens in his armor + maybe some ravens flying on the base (wire them to him or maybe the base and have them circling him?) would be my only suggestions on how to improve it really.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you

Amazing painting.

Never knew that model had 3 name plates!!! Thats awesome. In "Blood games"(Tales of Heresy),one of the oldest, most battle hardened of the Custodes had a name that didn't even fit on his breastplate!

Man, thanks for sharing such a beautiful work in progress. I can tell just from this thread alone that your painting skills have improved. The highlighting and crispness of the details have gotten progressively better. Overall, an absolutely fantastic looking army.

I appreciate your time posting your work in these Blogs.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

I had considered, but the Blood Ravens are a very new chapter (post 38M) so I couldn't see any real reason for them to be using some as archaic as the pre-heresy jump packs.

Maybe one for a special character sometime.

I got a my big order of marines tonight, and spent a few hours doing up some conversion, here are some of my favourite, i'll post them all when i finish the squads.

Some assault terminators.

And I want my Scout sgt to have a Powerfist, and his unit scout unit is designed for fast assaults out of a landspeeder storm, so i figured, I'd make him a chaplain, leading young scouts into battle. Maybe a squad of scouts who are being trained as future chaplains.

The second terminator has an expresion of 'oh you'r gonna get it now' Love it

I like the conversions , but i dont think the head fits on the Scout/chaplins body ..

Keep in mind, it's a helmet, with stuff on the face, so it would be bigger than his 'head'
