Great job, great scheme, great free-handing especially for new blood! You have obviously been poking around and looking at the hobby for a while, that's how I was when I started. Even though I had only been playing a couple months, I still had enough knowledge about the rules and modeling to be on the level of guys playing for multiple years. You remind me of myself.

Any faults in the maps are due to my misremembering or there for cinematic effect!


The battle for Idian IV on the border of Tau space rages.
Commander Shadowsun, leader of the third phase expansion, pushes her forces deeper into Imperial territory to recover more worlds lost during the Imperium during the damocles campaign...

Shadowsun squinted her eyes at the glaring sun shining down from twin suns of the Idian star system. She raised her hand to shield her vision from the light as she surveyed the construction. The XV-908 Orbital Defence Railgun was nearing completion. Once it was in place, they would be able to drive the Imperial ships from orbit of this world, and secure their beach head. Without the Imperial Navy to resupply them, she mused, the human forces on this world would quickly capitulate.
Who would fight on in such hopeless circumstances when they would be welcomed with warm arms into the Greater Good?
But then, she thoughts. Humans never see the end until it is already upon them.
Her musings were disturbed by as an aid approached. He saluted sharply.
"O'Shaserra, we have received words of Imperial scouts in the area. Moving with haste in the south."
"Guard forces?"
"Unknown, we didn't get...." The Fire Warrior leader paused, pressing his finger to the hear of his helmet, listening to a status update.
"Correction. Incoming enemy spotted. The Orbital Defence Platform has been spotted. We read several Astartes vehicles closing on our position. Exact numbers unknown."
Shadowsun nodded, maintaining her outward calm and dismissed the Firewarrior leader with orders to prepare the defence lines.
Inwardly however, she sighed. This would be a much more protected fight than she had hoped for. Astartes never surrender.
She jogged to her Stealth Sui climbing inside and buckling herself in as the suit's systems hummed to life, bathing her in a green light. She spoke into the communication device,
"Firewarriors, take up defense positions around the array. XV15 Team, activate cloaking devices and attempt to outflank the infantry. Broadsides and Hammerheads be ready for a heavy concentration of enemy mechanized unites. We must protect the array from any Imperial attacks. Secure the ruined temple on the other side of this valley, to ensure no further incursions into this area. Good luck everyone, and happy hunting. For the greater good."



Tau Objectives:
Imperial forces have found the orbital defence cannon! It must be protected until it is fully operational and the shield generators come online. To this end you are to secure the temple ruins at the far end of the valley while protecting the array, to deny the Space Marines a foward base of operations.



Blood Raven Objectives:
The Emperor shines on us this day, brothers! While investigating the local ruins on this world for lost artifacts, Lord Octavian's scouts have stumbled upon a secret Tau installation. The Emperor guides our sword to our foes unprotected hearts surely and swiftly. Secure the holy shrine of the Emperor to continue the search for the holy relics and destroy the Tau installation before it becomes operational. His wrath falls from the heavens.

Deployment: Spearhead.
Mission: Take and Hold.

Octavian surveyed the scene with a grim sense of achievement. The array was destroyed, the valley secure and the relics found. A victory, but at a cost. A sacred Land Raider is not easily replaced. He watched as the Tau commander and what little was left of her forces fled in a devilfish, but enough honour had been won today. There was no need to pursue
He sheathed his sword and and turned back towards his men.
Besides, he had a feeling their paths would cross again before his time in this sector was finished.

And yes, he is the old Sicarius model. But I wanted him to bed a Blood Raven, and I don't use helmetless marines.

I don't see the issue. It's a hobby, so cutting off his head and converting him up is unvalid how?

Whats the difference between making him an Ultramarine or a Blood Raven? Does it invalidate the model?

I can't wait to see the dreadnought all painted up. Keep up the good work, and give us an update soon.

No no, not at all, that's not what I was getting at. $10 is an awesome bargain, i'd really love one of those figs, and i'd cut it up too if I had one. I collect white panthers, so I like characters with lightning claws, and understand you making all things blood raven for the same reason.

Ahhh another beautiful forge world model for dakka to see I love it can't wait to see how it turns out.

Nice Dread though, I've always liked the Tyrant remains on the banner.

That banner is Ultra all over it mate, I suggest removing it along with the Ultramarine Tyrannic War Veterans badge on the dread's right leg

I reckon the banner is stinking awesome, but you might need to do more than just cover over the Ultrasmurf logos. Maybe you can modify it in some ways so that people wont instantly recognise it?

I don't really see why. It'll look very un-ultramariney once its painted red, and not blue.

I haven't finished carving off the Us from the banner just yet, don't worry
