I've got one above ground lava fall, no fires. Every other exposed lava formation is in a kind of bowl so no fires. I've been tempted to start a forest fire but I'd have to go way, way far away from my base and probably find an island to give into the temptation. I love my trees too much.

Well I caved into temptation and got it and I must say it's strangely satisfying.

Currently building a Cobble stone stairs to my tower high upon a mountain, with my cave opposite. I haven't managed to find iron ore yet, I found some sort of stone with light brown bits in it but nothing came from them :\

Died and started over again... dunno, I just... hate hving to continue after dying. Usually I die to lava is probably why.

Here's my current map's fort, and its two docks (they're hard to see from this angle though).

The second dock is on the bottom left, you can just barely see the torches. The first one is near the center, obscured by the trees but still visible due ot hte torches and the line of torches leading to it (which is a literal tunnel of cobblestone built to get to it without having to deal with monsters outside). The area with the two huge braziers is the main fort, abouve five levels high thus far, going to be higher whenever I get some more cobblestone (which will be soon, after I craft an iron pick to mine the redstone I found when I hit bedrock).

That is iron ore, it needs to be mined with a stone pick or better otherwise it doesn't give anything.

Not to be a jackass but how do you keep dying in lava over and over?

Usually because of creepers or forgetting to sneak while making lava traps.

But the good thing is that I this is the first game I've made a portal to the nether without using invedit. I used a single bucket, an infinite spring, some cobblestone, and a source of lava to create the obsidian in just the right shape, even though I haven't run into but a single diamond ore block.

You still gotta find the diamond so you can mine some obsidian to make an exit portal though, if you don't just want to stay near the one you enter with that is.

I plan on casting my first doorway. Just seems more entertaining to do. I mean I can either haul water down to my mine, turn some lava to obsidian, then mine it. Or I haul the lava up out of my mine and cast it on the surface and skip the mining entirely. The second just seems a bit easier.

That's why I don't bother with lava traps, that and they destroy the mob drops.

Actually I don't, due to a set of weird circumstances.

Essentially... I died after a wraith or whatever those baby head tentacle things are shot me into a group of zombie pigmen, who were apparently enraged by it (maybe it knocked my aim off and caused me to hit one of them). And apparently he also deactivated the portal before I died. So I respawned, went back down and through the portal... then ended up outside the half-built fortress, in a second portal about five spaces from the old one. After FINALLY killing the flying fireball shooting thing and the zombie pigmen (which took a ton of arrows to do...) and collecting the loot and dropped equipment, I went through the old portal and ended up somewhere completely different... a dark, humongous cave I had not yet found, with lots of iron and coal in it, and the occasional gold, several lava and water source blocks, and lots of skeletons (possibly linking to a skelly dungeon).

So apparently my death paid dividends.

As a side note, I hate finding really, REALLY large caves unless I'm at the top. Having five creepers drop down on me at once is not fun.

Also, note the cartographer output. 6,658 diamond ore, 548 clay. In minecraft bricks are more valuable than diamonds.

I started my new world today and really lucked out.

I left my spawn and moved in a random direction and found a nice little cliff overlooking a lake whick has a nice view of the surrounding enviroment. Moving further out I found a lava lake in a small valley, which hadn't started any forest fires, thank god. Now here's the best part, right next to the lava lake was a few blocks of coal and iron! I made some tools, mined the iron and coal and found some more iron and coal in a small water pool only steps away from the lava lake.

So it's day two and I have 21 coal and 14 iron. Best world ever.

My world is comin along quite nice tbh. Havnt had a decent world in a while. Currently playin on peaceful due to me being a builder not a fighter lol.

Got a nice fort being built to ward off creepers and the like lol. Will try get a decent pic shortly.

I've just finished building a giant Bridge from my mountain Lair to my Tower which is still under construction.

Me and my mates have chipped in to buy a computer to act purely as a server block, depending on how that runs I may let you guys on to test how many people we can fit.

Finished the sixth floor of my castle, and found bucketloads of iron. Unfrotunately I needed those buckets to carry off the lava that it was hanging over (mostly I wnated to save them rather than destroy them, and they're useful in making light).

And I have about seven full stacks of redstone now. I can probably go make that double door and pressure plate system for my main docks now and see if it works...

Eh, it's just a play on words . You only need three ingots for a bucket.

If you have a wired fibre optic internet connection then you may be able to handle 10 to 15 people while running minecraft for yourself and the OS.

Ok so i recenty found a cave, and thought " Hey I'll explore that there cave !"

And I have discovered this huuuuugecavern that just goes on and on massive drops to lord knows where ! huge quantities of resources.

What have I stumbled upon ?

A MAHOOSIVE cave, they are quite common, whats worse is if you dig correctly you can normally connect 2 caves together.
