Just out of curiosity, what are Bloodcrushers?

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Finecast, being resin, is by definition, plastic. Semantics I know, but worth pointing out.

I dunno, I feel kinda cheated here. I'm glad my Ogres will be getting some love, but I feel like they are getting less love than all the other recent army books. We have less units, less special characters, etc. Nothing that really screams 'OMG YES YES YES' at me like the other books (so far). Overall, very plain jane it seems. I'm especially disappointed by the fact that Big Names seem to have received absolutely no love whatsoever. It seemed like a really easy fix to me that was overlooked entirely by the design studio.

So sad about big names.

As a recovering Chaos addict i was really hoping it would be brought in line with gifts(as far as i know still don't count towards allowance, forgive me its been awhile) so i could properly ween myself off!

Big Names really havn't changed. they still come out of the Magic allowance, no big deal.

Mawseeker got a huge price jack(its 20 Gnoblars now as opposed to previous cost of 5g), I hope they clarify with an FAQ that Stupidity actually does give the unit ItP. thats the only way Mawseeker is really going to be worth it.

Other then that, they basically all stayed the same with 1 new big name and some being brought up to date and costed more in line with their effect in 8th. At least they are still there.

Yes, they are still there in all there uselessness. I think only 2 or 3 of those names were ever used/at all practical, and that was due in large part to the fact that they come out of your magic items allowance. The easy fix would have been to make them additional wargear.

A new army book and several new models - most of them quite large plastic kits - and you're feeling 'cheated'.

and the new plastic kits are amazing. I wasn't sure about the Mournfangs at first, Ogres riding cats just seemed wrong, but the models have grown on me.

Y'know, I may not like a lot of business decisions GW makes... I may not like the prices (in terms of hikes making sense)... I may occasionally think the fluff is stagnant...

But I'll be damned if I can't admit they are putting out some damned fine looking models in the past 2 years. One or 2 exceptions, sure (SR and Dreadknight cough cough), but in general, BA, GK, Khemri, HE and Skaven, Orcs, DE and now Ogre Kingddoms are extremely solid release cycles for me.

or perhaps they browse on trees and Giraffes.

This was pointed out by Hitsugaya Toushiro on Warseer, so credit goes to him.

In the new book, Slaughtermasters and Butchers will have access to ironfists (I can 99% confirm this). As ironfists are mundane armour (they're shields), SMs and Butchers will have access to magic armour. Your thoughts?

This allows butchers to have some decent saves that arn't just wards or regen.

I have some potential combinations

Armor of Fortune and Ironfist: 4+ armor, 5+ ward: leaves 15 magic points for butcher, 65 for SM

Gamblers armor and Ironfist: 4+ armor, 6+ ward: leaves 30 magic points, 80 for SM

Armor of Destiny and Ironfist: 4+ armor, 4+ ward: leaves no magic for butcher, 50 for SM

Tricksters helm and Ironfist: 5+ armor, 6+ ward, reroll to wound: leaves no magic for butcher, 50 for SM

those are some respectable saves are decent cost.

armor of destiny seems like a really good choice for the SM. really can't get better saves and still have a decent amount of points for things like channeling staff or dispell scroll.

Armor of Fortune looks like a good compromise for a Butcher between protection and other magic items. Gamblers armor is a worse ward(and only to the front in CC) but you have more magic allowance.

My opinion on the price breakdown

Thundertusk/Stonehorn
Ehh price to be expected even if its high

Ironblaster/Scraplauncher
Hmm thats not too bad!

Mournfang Cavalry (2 per box)
Ouch if you want large units

Ogre Bulls (repack)
Ok (if the numbers are the same?)

Gnoblar Warriors (repack)
Ok ($5 more though!)

Leadbelchers (repack)
Ok (if the numbers are the same?)

Ironguts (repack)
Ok (if the numbers are the same?)

Ogre Kingdoms Battalion (repack)
What was the last price of the battalion? Wonder if it has the same composition

Finecast
Tyrant (current mini)
Wee bit cheaper! But it is much more efficient to make your own imo

Butcher (current mini)
Ok ($5 more though!)

Gorger (current mini)
Ok (wee bit more)

Yhetees (3 per box, current minis)
Not bad! Save quite a bit

Golgfag Maneater
Bragg the Gutsman
Firebelly
In line with the other ogre characters

Imo doesnt seem too bad, unless of course you want to go monster heavy. If the numbers are still the same in the boxes then it shouldnt cost all that much to make a core army. Heck Yehtees are cheaper now!

3 characters, a monster with howdah, a warmachine and one new unit is the standard release nowadays.
$40.00 for one character on foot is quite a lot, the price of a full standard regiment.
And somehow I didn't expect the words "Yhetee" and "not bad" in one sentence of an Ogre kingdom thread.

Well I'm not saying that its a fair price (many other companies can make a similar sized model fro around $20-30) but at least it isnt going any higher (well except for the slaughterers), albeit in finecast. Still thats why I made the comment that its better on the wallet to GS/convert a plastic ogre up to be a hero

Maybe a real yhetee went to GW and asked if they could be improved in any way, including pricing
