Those termies look stunning! And, yes, I am a genius Glad that worked, I think you've really create an effective alternative terminator armour without it looking off in anyway. Standard GK termie helmets also look interesting on conventional termies for a PH look. Great to see you attacking the project in earnest!

@Ice: Thanks! Only 5 for now. That's what came in the DV box and its what fits in army list at the moment. Oh, and I'll probably do my Librarian in TDA. (Oh, who am I kidding? You know I'm going to get the Deathwing set when it comes out. )
@Gits: Yeah, kind of excited about it right now! Hope I have enough time to finish it.
@ Graven: Thanks! And thanks for the idea, too!
@ SL: Thanks, my friend.

@eldar: Thanks! Yeah, paint... the bane of my gaming existence.... I'll get there.
Started a rather ambitious termie conversion (for me, anyway). It's taking me a bit longer than expected. Hopefully pics tonight or tomorrow.
On a seemingly unrelated note, does anyone know where I can buy a cheap, small ball and socket joint, preferably in plastic?

I hadn't seen Stckfas before, Graven. Those... have some potential for a project somewhere. How big are they? I was thinking of using an action figure and cutting up an arm or leg.
I want to use it on a vehicle, so not too small, but still in 40k scale. I think the knee or elbow joint on a 3-4" action figure would be about right. I also found out that they make ball joint for r/c cars, like this one: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__7561__R_C_Car_ball_joint_W_Locking_Sleeve_3mm.html. Not sure of the size on these, but it may be what I'm looking for.

@Graven: PM sent. Thanks!
I may have found an elegant solution for a more civilized hobby:
Ball and magnet joint. I found this over on the damned artificer's Adeptus Mechanicus Blog over on Warseer. Should allow for a lot of movement without a lot of building required. Not sure how much weight it can support, though...
Update:
Ok, so I've been working on this conversion for a couple of days. I think it turned out ok but not as well as I had hoped. For reference, this is the figure I started with:
And here's how he turned out:
I'm not sure about the Mk 4 helmet on this guy. What do you think? Does it work?
I did, however, magnetize the weapon arm, so... Heavy Flamer!
and... Custom-made Cyclone Missile Launcher!
My vision for the Cyclone was much better than it turned out. For some reason the arm lists to the right pulling the launcher away from the terminator. I may have to re-seat the magnet. Bother.
The other problem is the Storm Bolter. I've actually always thought it odd that the Cyclone Terminator could also fire his SB, so my version actually has his hand on a firing mechanism. But, not WYSIWIG.... Any ideas?
For those of you curious (and for my own inventory), here are the bits I used:
Dark Veangeance Heavy Weapon Terminator
Dark Veangeance Terminator Storm Bolter Arm ( SB removed)
Mk 4 "Maximus" Helmet (Forge World)
Standard Space Marine Shoulder Pad
Devastator Left-hand Pointing Power Fist
Wolf Guard Heavy Flamer
Landspeeder Typhoon Missile Launcher Sponson (technically, from the Dark Angels Vehicle Upgrade sprue)
Devastator Ammo Pack
Scroll (from the Tactical Squad, I think)
1/16" x 3/32" magnets (4)
Green Stuff
Bonus Update!
Ravenwing Helmet Conversion
Made from a Space Wolf Mk 6 Corvus helmet (which is why it's a little rough and has runes on) and a couple of Dark Angels icons. I didn't quite line up the wings evenly... and it's a little rough. Still, I think the idea is decent.
I was thinking of using this for my Libby, but I'm not sure how it will look on Terminator armor. Maybe hang it from his belt? Should look good with Power Armor. Might also be good for a Chaplain, maybe paint the "beak" bone....
C&C welcome!
Thanks.

@ Gits & Gir: Thanks, mates!
Haven't had too much time for the hobby the past couple of days. My dog has been sick, which generally means he wakes up at 3:00 in the morning to throw up on the carpet. Poor guy. Is this what having kids is like? Anyway, I've been a bit tired.
I did get a couple things done, though, starting with fixing the Missile Launcher on my Heavy Terminator.
I think he looks much better now.
I could really use your help figuring out his head, though. Which of these do you like best?
1. Mk III
2. Mk IV
3. Mk V
4. Bare
Got a couple other things done, too. Started cutting up the DV Sergeant Terminator:
Changed the angle of his sword without much problem, but after I cut off his helmet, I realized I had cut off a chuck of his armor, so now I'm trying to rebuild that.
Also started cutting up a Mk III Sergeant:
Not only did I decide to convert a regular marine into a Sergeant with Bolt Pistol and Power Sword, I thought it would be a good idea to magnetize his arm, so I could switch out the PS for a Hand Flamer. I've cut each arm at least twice, now, trying to get the proper pose....
And did a mock up for a Librarian:
As always, C&C welcome.
Thanks!

As to the Termie heads- Id go with the MK III. The look feels complete to me. The helm looks like its in a permanent scowl, and I think that is fitting for a frontline combat unit. Terrify the enemy and whatnot The librarian Im not 100% on, though. The shoulderpads seem a bit ott even for space marines.

I love the way the Mk V looks... man that's a great helm for a terminator.... Imagine it as a libby helm... do some glowing OSL on the helm studs like some kind of early version of a phychic hood... choice man... just choice.

Hmm.... after a little further thought, It almost feels like an exaggerated Tartaros pattern termie. My main issue seems to be the torso- if it was "fatter", so to speak, it might look better. more puffed out in the chest.

OH, and I'm with Ramos on the shoulder pads on the libby... they're a bit too much. Might be the pose making them more OTT than normal. And that winged thing on the front of his right shoulder looks like it'll interfere with nearly any shoulder pad you can put on him. Does not look good under the pad (as in your pic). Maybe you can play around and find something that'll fit neatly behind/underneath it.

@Ramos: Thanks! I agree with you on the helm. As soon as I tacked it on, I thought, "yeah, that's the head." You're right about the Libby's shoulder pads, too. I was trying to emulate KrautScientist's Legio Custodes Terminator Conversion>, but he put a Dreadnought body on his. So, you're right on the mark.
@Gits: Thanks! You are right on the money about that Mk V helmet (see below). The OSL will be challenging, but I'm willing to give it a shot! I really love that Heresy pattern armor.
@Graven: Thanks, mate. Yeah, it's an Empire Battle Wizard bit. That kit has all kinds of nice flame-y bits. I'm going to put the flaming sword on someone, too. I thought about putting the flaming skull on the libby, but then I thought that might be too much. Maybe I'll put it on a Biker.
@Gits & Graven: Thank you for making me glad I don't have kids!
@ SL: Have you seen GuitaRamus' Nurgle stuff! But thanks, man. I'm workin' on it.
By the way, in case you missed it, Elnibbus is starting a Fire Hawks army! Check out the Amazing Flame Patter he painted on his Landspeeder>!
++++++
Update:
So, the consensus on the Terminator head was either III or V. I went with III (but see below for V):
Nice, right?
And Obligatory Charlie's Angels shot:
You were all right about the Libby's shoulder pads, too. Here he is with regular pads:
And here's one trying out Gits' suggestion with the Mk V helm:
The helmet doesn't quite fit, so I'll have to trim it a bit, but otherwise...!
Also put together another Specialist marine:
And the sergeant:
I'm not entirely happy with the position of the Bolt Pistol, but given what I started with and my limited skills, I think it turned out all right. However, I did magnetize his left arm!
But I think I like this pose better....
And one of the squad:
Still need a little cleaning and green stuff and gun barrels drilled, but it's about time to get some paint on 'em, huh?
++++++++
Bonus Update:
Here's another little project I've been working on the week:
We'll find out in a couple weeks how turned out.
Cheers!

Mmmmmm....... beer. You my friend.... are a building maniac!! Love it! You're turning out some fantastic models! I think if you can tweak the Mk V helmet... it would be a much cooler fit in that libby than the BA head. Besides... he's a terminator, he should be wearing a helm. (insert Darth Vader breathing) "I'm a Space Marine veteran in ancient tactical dreadnought armor... I'm hundreds of years old and I am nearly invincible to any form of attack... oooh... .22 to the face..." *splat!*

Thanks, guys.
I've been working on a couple of things over the past few days....
+++++
Old Stuff:
Finally finished the Terminator Sergeant:
I'm not entirely happy with him. Having to rebuild some of his armor was a challenge, and it didn't really come out. From 3 feet, he's probably fine, but up close....
And here's the terminator squad properly based:
Not bad overall, I think. The first three turned out best, but they were the simplest conversions. I probably spent too much time on these guys, but it was a fun project, and I sure learned a lot about converting. They need a little cleaning and GS then on to paint... eventually.
Also started painting the Assautl Squad...
...and quickly was reminded how terrible Citadel paints are in an airbrush. Now I have to wait for some decent Vallejo paints....
+++++
New Stuff:
Started a new figure, another Dark vengeance conversion:
As always, I've taken on more than I expected. The basic conversion is a common one: DV LIbrarian torso on DV Bike Sergeant bike. Naturally, I decided to cut the head off, too . (He's not a Dark Angel, after all.) I've run into a couple of issues building him, but I think I'm resolving them. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a nice little extra to work, too.
Speaking of heads, I'd like your opinion, again. Here's a close up using the "Ravenwing" helmet I built last week:
Or there's this one without a helmet:
Which one do you like better? Or neither? Suggestions?
As always, C&C welcome.
+++++
Razorback:
I've also been thinking about adding a couple of Razorbacks to my army, but I don't really like the new model; I prefer the old Mk 1 Razorback:
These aren't readily available, however. I could scratch build one (I found some plans online), but I'm not sure I'm up to that yet. Another option would be to buy a Rhino kit and just scratch build the turret. I could probably do that. Also, I found a Scratchbuilt Razorback Turret by Oldgrue, so I would have a couple ideas of where to go.
Another option would be to use another model. I've found a number of people use M113A1 APC models for Rhinos and Razorbacks:
I kind of like this model. I could simply put the Las- Plas on the turret. However, one alternative I thought of was to put the TL Plasguns on the turret and put the Lascannon in the place of the recoilless Rifle. I kind of like the idea of having a marine standing in the back with the Lascannon. Might be a little different and seems appropriate for a fleet chapter with limited resources. What do you think?
There's also this model:
It's really more of a tank, but I think it would work.
or this one that I really like, too:
What do you think.
Also, several of these models place the turret toward the front of the vehicle (which makes sense to me), but do you think anyone would have a problem with that from a gaming perspective? Don't want to be accused of "modelling for advantage".
+++++
Thanks!
YB

Personally I prefer the helmeted head. Ive never been a fan of bare heads in my ranks (why would you leave your most vital area exposed?!!), and I find a lot of the SW heads too feral for my use, especially with all the goofy hairstyles.
Between the two, I think the helm looks magnitudes better!
Regarding the Rhino Stand-in:
I dont think anyone would have a problem with it. I, for one, wouldn't. Besides, with a las/plas Razor, 99% of the time an inch wont matter!

For the MK1 Razorback, you could do a conversion of the SoB Immolator Unsure how hard it would be, but if you have the weapons (and spare SM torso/head/arms etc.) it shouldn't be too complex.
