The right arm's issue isn't that noticeable and will probably be less so after painting.
From what I can tell from the five terminators I've built, unless you have the arms in pretty boring positions the shoulder pads are awkward to get on...

Like the little details on the scythes.

That terminator looks just on the brink of cutting some head off, I don't think the right harm is that bad actually

P.S.: great job on the Fire Hawks

Mostly, on my phone.

I agree actually, it's as if it's mid-swing. Stick a csm helm on the base and you're sorted!

@Ratcharch& Dr. H: Thanks, gents! Glad to hear it looks good. I was planning on cutting it off, so you guys saved me some work!

@Selvagio: Hey, thanks for stopping by my blog, and thanks for the comment. I appreciate it. Thanks for the compliment on the FH, too. They did turn out nicely, but they were more of a geam effort with big contributions from Gitsplitta and Solar_lion. The only models I did completely were the librarian, the apothecary, and the objective marke, though I do really like those models.

@Graven: Thanks, my friend. CSM? Red Corsair maybe? Or Badab War loyalist terminator? Maybe a Fire Hawk...?

Hey, Everybody, sorry for the lack of updates. I've been strangely busy lately, but I did finally get back to the Mantis Warrior:

@Ice & Gits: Thanks for the idea about the mandibles. They didn't quite come out as I wanted - I definitely need more work with gs - but I think they add a lot to the model. If I had only had a CSM Terminator helmet. Alas....

@Graven: Thanks for the idea of putting a helmet or such on the base. I had this great idea of putting half a terminator torso on the base, like it had just been cloven in half, even cut up a terminator to do it, but in the end, I thought it took up too much space and took away from the MW. So, plain, boring base. Probably not best to compete with Nerdy's base anyway.

I think he's basically done at this point. Time to start painting. Not sure I'll get him done by the deadline, but that's ok. It's good practice, and I really like how the model is developing. Plus, all the other entires are amazing!

Cheers!

YB

@Selvagio: Thanks! I tried a couple of arms, Power Fists, etc, but still didn't like them, so I left them off. Thanks for the idea, though.

@Gits: No worries. It was good practice. Besides, I suspect I know where they went, and they'll get better use there....

So...

Hulk Smash!

He's actually highlighted and shaded at this point. It is subtle, but the picture just doesn't show it....

Anyway, started on a few details, too:

@Dr.H: Thanks. At this point, the yellow is just Averland Sunset, though I did need 3 layers to cover the green. Pretty happy with the green, though: VJ Deep Green + Intermediate Green + Light Green + Light Green/Golden Yellow (3:1) + Biel Tan Wash.

@SS: Thanks, mate!

@Gits: He's not done yet! Well, at this point, I can call him "done" and submit him though. Glad you like him. He was inspired by this guy:

Spoiler:

@Gir. Thanks, man. That means a lot, considering the guy you submitted!

Coming along:

Not sure about the red on the scythes. What do you think?

Also, how (what color) should I highlight the mandibles?

Thanks for reading!

Looking better and better

I like the red on the scythes actually, It gives a focal different color, that looks good with green and yellow.

I say for the mandibles bone or metal

I think it's coming together really well YB. You've still got 6 days so if you get even a little bit done each evening you'll really have something amazing when you're done. Keep at it my friend, I know you can succeed!

That's very strong indeed! Like the red a lot, spot colour ftw! Despite being black on the sigil I'd go bone on the mandibles, too.

Absolutely hilarious, Grim! I'm stealing it!

Ok, added some highlights....

...though I'm not sure you can tell from these pictures. Probably most visible on the power cords, although the bone came out pretty well, too. May have overdone the left knee a bit.

What's left to do?

-shoulder pad
-touch up
-finish base

Cheers!

I really like to see this coming to a complete and very well done miniature
I don't think that the kneepad is overdone, It looks just right.

Ok, painted the shoulder pad:

This was my first attempt at freehand, and I was quite pleased with it until I looked at this photo. Stupid close-up photography. I'll have to try to clean it up a bit in the morning. In any case, I took some notes from GiraffeX and Knightley on this. Thanks, Gents!

Also, touched up a few places and repainted the scythes. I had given them a blue wash, but I didn't like it, so I repainted them gunmetal and gave them a natural steel highlight along the blades. Not fancy, but I like them.

Just have to finish up the base (after I retouch the shoulder), and he'll be done.

Cheers!

Looks good, with my logo I painted it in all black first and then painted the yellow seperator over the black down the middle.
