I actually really like the terrain and was considering getting some. It looks good enough it could be used in either game. Also I just like the look of it. reminds me a lot of Verimintide mausoleum level.

Ok, is set now. That box has let me get the Exalted Deathbringer with spear at last. I always loved the model, but I just didn't wanted to pay what they asked for it!

Most of GW's recent releases have been great and I cant find much to complain about, but that $80 4x4 battle mat is a bit to much... Are they blissfully unaware of several competing companies in that realm?

But in Europe, and in Poland to pe precise GW mat is cheaper or the same price than other companies, and is very high quality.

Yeah for some reason GW thinks their 4x4 is worth what other companies charge for their 6x4's, and I think even those are too expensive.

After shipping and exchange rate are added to every other option it's a competitive price.
I always buy 6x4 even for games that only need 4x4 so it's not for me, but I have to imagine that other people have the same shipping/exchange rate issues with the other suppliers.

Just saw the expanded graveyard.. I think it's something like 6 mausoleums and 2 statues.. they had to have expanded the fencing. I own the original single kit and frankly it's a pain to reach in and move things. Several of the smaller pieces have already broken due to snagging. I really don't see how adding more of this super dense terrain is going to help anything in that regard. I usually leave the statue out just so I can actually get my bear paws into the darn thing.

So.. hard pass.. but I really don't think $80 is crazy on that.. just a bit on the high side.

NOW.. that gaming mat.. the Frostgrave one that GW just tossed in there? Oh wait.. I mean.. it's totally not aimed at dual purpose. Yeah I might have to get that one.

As you are in the USA, if you want just a basic grass mat, or a pretty nice Starfield map, Hidden Forest Gaming sells 2mm thick 4x6 neoprene mats for $55. They just had a successful Kickstarter for much more detailed mats that I "think" become retail in the fall.

As we are talking AoS skirmish, if you don't mind a 3x6 play surface instead of a 4x4 for some skirmish gaming, two of the 3x3 Runewars neoprene mats are $80.

We aren't talking about basic repeating patterns, that's not what GW is selling. Here's apples to apples.

Deep Cut Studios has got 6'x4' mousepads with actual battlefield patterns for 64.90€ That's $72.74 ... UNTIL.. I add shipping.. then it jumps up to 99.80€. More than $100.
Their 4'x4' Frostgrave mat is 84.80€ with shipping. That's just over $95.

I have paid for a Deep Cut mat before and they are very good quality. They do have some much cheaper materials too (I bought a PVC mat actually).. but my point is that GW is spot on with this. They also have extremely high standards and the resources to fix any problems with your order. Deep Cut basically told me I was out of luck when the bag mine came in had a messed up zipper because they folded it and wrapped it around the shipping tube in a garbage bag.
I'm by no means a GW fanatic but I'm calling a spade what it is. For the material they're presenting this in with the sort of design that is on it, that is a good price.

I'm a bit under the weather, how are the prices for those skirmish boxes compared to SCs and other deals? Okay? Good? Too addled to check and compare funny monies for all this.

I don't have Wrathmongers (only a ton of torsi bought as cheap bits) and the spear dude. Don't *need* them, though.

In GBP there's about £60 worth of models in each of them (Stormcast and Flesheaters are a bit less, Bloodbound and Ironjawz a bit more). So you're getting a third off in the currency of your choice, basically. Saving is about the same for Start Collecting! boxes (they're generally £50 for £75ish).

They are pretty solid. From the top of my head, the IJ box is almost a must-have competitively speaking. Several optimal configurations use those minis. Even if not, 2 of that box is a steal. For a 110 eur you'd get 10 brutes (84 euros on their own) 2 weirdnobs (56 euros) 10 ardboyz (42 euros). it's a discount of almost a 40%. It's not as good as the SC but it doesn't have gore-gruntas in it, which is a very good plus.

The ghoul bos offers you a discount of 18 euros per box. It's not awesome sauce but it does the job and gives you more minions for the horde than the SC! whose main draw is the GK. Combining those two boxes should give you 1000pts (well, 980pts) for 120 euros.

The other two boxes... are more stinkers. You DO save money with the box, since the 5 elite guys and the deathbringer are 68 euros. But you also get 3 blood warriors which are a pain in the ass to equilibrate. A solution may be getting a second warband and convert one to a hero. That way you'll get a decent discount of maybe 16-18 euros pr box.

Stormcasts is garbage if you want to expand. The saving is very minimal and you'll find absolutely no way to snug in the liberators. Maybe if you want just those guys for a warband. I mean, my SCE force is just vanguard chamber (then again I began them this month)

Someone on the facebook group said that the garden of morr was 2xwhole sets and some extra fences (MORR fences lol) Not sure if that is the case, as I cant see any MORR in the photos (ok no morr jokes now!) but they may have just used the old photos and Photoshopped two together.

I grabbed it, it was a bit more than I intended to spend, but I have the old manor but never really did anything with it, as the new terrain doesn't match up with it, plus I have a huge death army I must get round to do at some point, and so have some spare graves from all those spirits.

The shadespire box game is still a separate thing, this is just SET in shadespire. GW confirmed on their page, after I asked the same thing.

I took a gamble and grabbed the book, even after my grumblings and concerns. Worst case scenario is that its not as good as I'd like it to be, but while its hot, if I find that its of no use to me, I'd happily swap it for some bits, or something. How ever, reading what Bottle has had to say about it, it should at the very least, have some stuff to add into hinterlands, should it be a bit light on content.

I'm a little disappointed that nothing has gone out of stock, after the fiasco of shadow war. Some people will see it as they have increased stock levels, but I see it as perhaps AoS is still not as popular as most of would like to think it is, or that it should be.

I grabbed some extra bits in my order. A box of handgunners, as I've still never painted humans, or at least flesh, and I think its about time! A box of the new goblin blood bowl team- I have no interest in playing BB anymore, but they are going to make a killer skirmish warband, and they are closer in style to the old Brian Nelson sculpts I have so many off.

I really hope that this becomes a community driven thing. There is some great stuff out their for skirmish set in AoS already, but its like its been under heavy guard. Hoping that 'official' rules lets it break free of that, and becomes as awesome as Inq28 has done over the years.

Nah. It is written that the box contains 84 components, and each GOM has 42. So no extra fences.

The Gamemat.eu site claims (even with an atrocious shipping to the US), a 6x4 mousepad mat would be around 86 dollars, and they are pretty beautiful.

But back to Skirmish things, 10 bucks for the rules seems pretty damn good if all I need are the unit profile downloads. I might actually try my hand at it, as I am always interested in skirmish-level gaming, as the warbands are easier to paint with two kids to take care of.

There's no way that is the complete Chaos list. There's nothing from Arcanites, Bloodbound, or Slaves to Darkness listed.

So basically those sets are interesting if I want more Brutes or the spear dude and Wrathreapmongerskulls. Looks like I can wait and see if those are limited instead of rushing out (read: place an oine order quickly).

Just looking at the preorder stuff now ... is the new Sigmarite Mausoleum just 2 gardens of morr smushed together? Or does it have extra new stuff added in too?

I'll probably pick up the rulebook but not in a big rush to get it. I was kinda hoping they would have done free PDF rules, with lots of extra goodies and fluff in the printed book.

Apparently it's just two relabeled Gardens of Morr, and the only shiny new thing is the name.

yeap, its just 2 X gardens in one box, with a shiny new sigmar name. I asked the same thing as rumours went round facebook there was too be extras, and someone else earlier in this thread pointed out that the components in box were the same as 2X garden and no more (morr lol) Not even a few pages back, just above on this page in fact lol

This is GW. It's not shiny and new without a good price hike. Lowering prices is an insult to discerning customers!

You joke, but they've been on a fairly good streak of repackaging lowering the prices.

Let's be honest. They had to. And it seems it's a winning strategy. Larger total spend gives them more money, lower cost per model saves the customer money. It's a compromise I'm reasonably happy with. I'd still have preferred lower cost for normal boxes, but since any price drop would have been unthinkable even two years ago, this is a huge step for GW.

Now if only my apartment were larger. I actually like the Garden of Morr. At least with a rebranding for Age of Sigmar, the kit probably stays around, unlike other Empire terrain. That's a good thing.
