Subject: Mixing Metallics to create new metallic colors? Help!

Was wondering if anyone knew of a paint line that offered metallics in colors? I was thinking about starting a new Necron army, but I want to base coat them in a metallic blue. Are there any good techniques for mixing metallic paints with other paints? Say I wanted to make my blue metallic paint myself, could i just mix say mithril silver and regal blue, and be on my way?
Thanks for any and all help!

the mixing is certainly doable... the mix you describe is i think working... but there are old paints from gw that are just what you describe... in fact i own one of these blue metalic ones...which i cold part with if you would like to trade....

My solution for colored metallics was ink wash(NOT the new GW wash). Old Citadel wash has a bit of glossy finish, which was perfect for shiny metal surface.
Basically, you take the uncolored metallic (Mith. Silver for example) and do an undiluted/low-dilution ink wash over the surface. This gives you the metallic of the hue that ink possessed. Much better looking than trying to mix the paint.
The inks are now discontinued, but there are substitutes if Citadel are not available.

Not mine, but someone else's, using Tamiya Metallic Blue.
I found that to be too dark, and so basecoated using Mithril silver, then added a couple of Asurmen blue washes.
End Result:
The spray comes out flatter and more even, but it much darker than I wanted it. I would recommend maybe picking up a pot of the Tamiya stuff, and compare it to other methods, and decide. Also, the spray comes out glossy, so a wash of Asurmen blue (or your preferred wash) would be a simple solution

Vallejo's Game Color washes might be a decent replacement. They seem to behave a bit more like inks out of the bottle than GW's current offerings, though they can be made to act identically with a little tweaking.

I would check Reaper as well.
I have a Reaper Pro-Paint Gun Metal paint that has a blue hue to it, with which I painted my dark eldar army (and have a ton left over)
There would also be Coat d' Arms paints, which are the old GW paints (round cylinder and tall hex pot vintage). The name might be different, but they match pretty well.
*edit
Scale Creep MIniatures in the US sells Coat d' Arms, it looks like their "enchanted blue" is what you are looking for

Halfway down the page. That should be a match for GW's old Polished Blue metallic blue paint.
Yup, here is the conversion chart
http://www.paintingclinic.com/productreviews/cdaconversionchart.htm
I have the Polished Blue in front of me, and its a darker metallic blue than the picture seems from Scale Creep.

The Reaper Pro Series was discontinued, which is a shame as they had colored metals and pearlescent paints. I still have the red metal and blue metal paints from them, though they never get used.
I'll sell you my blue metal paint if you want. I don't need it.

Thanks for the info. I liked the Gun Metal. I also have Green Steel (metallic green), Gloss Black, and Blood Red.
I've not used either the green or the Red yet.
I painted a huge DE army, including vehicles, and I still have more than half the pot of Gun Metal left.

It sucks that they discontinued them as Dragon Gold is my favorite metallic to use as an aged bronze.
