OK, so Dakka is clearly the King of Warhammer forums. My question is, what are the other forums you like going to regularly? Forget Warseer and BolS. I mean like Bolter and Chainsword. That is a great Space Marine focused forum. What are the other forums like that, maybe race specific, or 40K specific, or era specific (like Horus Heresy timeframe).

I really want to make a good list as a resource and could use your help.

THANKS!

Bad form perhaps?

We have no objection at all to people talking about other forums and places they like.

We do not allow or approve of people bashing other forums, or using our board as a platform to badmouth others.

Not that anyone's done that yet in this thread, but just to be clear.

Thanks.

I wasreferring to the fact that almost 100 people had viewed this thread and yet no one had responded.

I assumed they felt doing so was bad form (some might assume it is against forum rules), or perhaps none of them realize that other 40k forums exists...

To answer this... yes I do.

Heck we sit at the game store and talk about other local game stores.

The best conversations are about Chinese food and restaurants at the game store, as the owners wife owns one.

I used to post a lot at 40kforums.com ...

Nice enough place, but much stricter mods. I was banned for telling a nub (jokingly) that any model armed with frag grenades can use them in the shooting phase as blast weapons

I have a feeling if I said that to a nub on here the mods would tell me I'm wrong, and that only krak grenades give such an attack.

Fair enough. I don't think the restaurant comparison is a direct one because forums are nonprofit enterprises that don't really compete with one another in the same way that restaurants or other businesses do. We're happy to have folks discussing other sites they like, as we think its beneficial to the community.

As far as 40 related blogs I would recommend International house of pancakes and then you will see a plethoria of blogs and sites to see.

Actually, NO it isn't bad form. We are a hobby and sharing information builds the hobby.

I have a blog and on it have a Blog Roll of other good blogs people should read and am happy to hear people talk about other blogs.

I also run the Apocalypse40K forums and have posted the same request there.

And YES I do go to restaurants, and if I know the chef we will discuss other good restaurants. Because people like eating at different places. And frankly, chefs like talking about other restaurants they like.

Geez.

And THANKS to all who have replied!

I call bullscat on the 'news only for GW products'. They have alot of different fourms for historicals,sci-fi, and just about anything else you can think of. I don't think one is 'better' then another just different focus on different things. They also have some amazing plogs by some really talented people, just like here on Dakka. They used to be #1 IMHO for rumours but thats died a slow quiet death thanks to the 'hate' that the rumour mongers got. What a thankless job.

Libarium Online was my first 40k fourm and it still holds a dear place in my heart. The mod team are rather nice guys and (when I was there) don't 'power trip' like one person does on another site.
Never been to BOW
Don't 'do' facebook.

I really like Dakka for the off-topic section and because you can embed youtube links if your post and they pop up as that spiffy window not a link.

Already been mentioned, but 40k online is a great forum. The community there is relatively tight-knit, which is both good and bad. Good because when you get feedback and or comments, they are by the people who know you, your history, and how you tend to play. Bad because its the same 20ish or so people on each board (they tend to stick to their race specific boards) replying each time.

I used to post in Heresy-Online, but I found that it was easier and more convenient to use Dakka's format. I don't have to open a new page to find subscribed threads, and all of the website functions are on the top of every screen. It's slightly annoying to Heresy-Online's function and it's identical in Warseer and BnC.

Heresyonline and Warseer plus Dakka round out the Big 3 of 40k Forums. I post on all of them, though am most active here.

Really, they're all the same thing. Quality, kinds of threads, members, though Dakka is slightly more active. They should all just merge into a 40k mega forum. Call it Dakka Seer Online

When it was called Eldar Online "that" was the place to be. It was a good place back then.

Second Sphere is not a bad place to go to for your Tau needs.

Librarium Online is one of the few (besides this place) sites that I have found to be easy going and you do not feel intimidated by what is going on there.

Dakka here suits almost all of my needs however I'm always looking for other sites that I might get a new perspective on things.

A few months back we seen the numbers (from LegoBurner) on hits on all of those sites. From that data Dakka has a sizable lead on both of the others.

The quality of the sites in general are high on those three that you have listed and yea they are the big three at the present moment.

Yeah, exactly. I like dakka because even though I don't read anything about the other games , they're still there. The main problem I see with "race native" forums is that the crowd is too small.

Mods are cool as beans on here too. I remember when Manchu wasn't even a mod, and he was one of my favorite posters
