I've decided to check out the Deathwatch RPG, and I have a few questions.

One, where the heck do you write down special abilities?

And second,

What are the small boxes in the upper left hand corners of the strength and toughness categories?

“One, where the heck do you write down special abilities?”

Please define what you mean by ‘Special Abilities’. Do you mean the specialist traits you get as part of your Speciality (ie. the things you get for being a Devastator or Assault Marine or whatever), or Squad/Solo Mode abilities, or Talents, or something else?

“What are the small boxes in the upper left hand corners of the strength and toughness categories?”

They are for your Unnatural values.

All Marines have the Traits Unnatural Strength (x2) and Unnatural Toughness (x2). This means that their base Strength and Toughness Bonuses are doubled (before additions) and displayed in that small box.

So if you have an average Marine with Strength 61 (41+20 from the Power Armour)and Toughness 41, you would have a 10 in the little box above Strength (SB4x2=8, +2 for the Power Armour = 10), and an 8 in the little box above Toughness (TB4x2=8).

The lack of room on the sheet is the reason we made our own (attached).

Talents go under "Space Marine Talents and Traits" (That's what all the spare lines are for). The small boxes are for the Unnatural Strength/Toughness bonuses.

Personally though, I tend to find FFG's character sheets imperfectly thought out, and I tend to instead use versions the community has redesigned (particularly as some of us want print friendly versions).

EDIT: Darn. Ninja'd.

Thank you both of you, and thanks a bunch to H.B.M.C. for the better character sheet.

As requested, here is the blank character sheet. It contains only the basics of what all Marine start with. The cells in which you should type are highlighted in yellow. The stats (and name) on all four main sheets are updated automatically when you amend the fifth and final sheet. This way the stats are always the same on every sheet and there's no chance of having a stat wrong on one sheet but right on all the others.

The movement values have an 'X' in them, and you simply replace the 'X' with whatever your Agility Bonus is and it will work the rest out for you.

Carry weight, leap, jump, armour, wounds and so on you enter in manually. The Talents page has room for additional talents.
