In order to remember important kills my models have made, I paint a small line of red gore at the underside of their bases. These "battle honours" are extremely important to me and I take great care to remember to paint new ones at the end of each battle I have.
Does anyone else have or know of anyone with habits or traditions with their armies?

I name my sergeants and other officers in Marine armies. When picking up dice to make a roll, I make a point to pick up the ones that have high numbers facing up first. I also don't like touching other peoples' dice or anyone touching mine. Finally, I really hate mixing up my squads. Yes, this bolter Marine is functionally (and almost visually) identical to this other bolter Marine, but he's in squad A, not squad B goddammit.

Hehe, I do that 'picking up dice with the highest numbers facing up' thing as well. Also, I have to have matching-coloured dice for rolls - different colours for different weapons is fine, but rolling a bunch of random-coloured dice together just breaks my head.
I also name all my sergeants/captains/other important characters, though that's more for story writing afterwards, and some of my vehicles are named as well. (My two Rhinos are called Death and Glory). I'll refer to the models by name during a game - and the few times I've accidentally used the wrong name, I've gotten really bad rolls for them.
If a model makes an exceptional kill, I'll try to add a trophy of it to the base or something afterwards - my rhino Death has a Terminator helmet hanging from a chain on its front from when it tank shocked a Terminator squad, the champion tried to death'n'glory it, and Death popped his head off. XD Other models might get some sort of marking painted on their armour for stand-out kills, or for being the last man standing in a fight.
And I hate mixing up my squads as well - which is why my squads' bases are colour-coded.

Also hate mixing up my squads, I put a small patch of colour on the back of the base after taking the picture for the gallery here.
I'd name squad leaders, but then I'd feel I'd have to also name the squad members. Going that far I'd also probably keep track of the more important accomplishments and likely have a death register.
For that reason I just name HQ, squads and vehicles at the moment, though I'm tempted to go further.

Named all my leaders, including my sargeants. Plus all my Leman russes are named, as are my hellhounds, and my manticore. Judging by how some players are at tournements, I d say alot have an adversion to personal hygiene.

My squads all have unique names and paintjobs, and barring some disaster, I'll flat-out refuse to put one model in another squad. On the tabletop, one of my three boyz squads is always the first to charge, always the one in front of the rest of the mob, and my Big Mek is always attached to it for fluff reasons.

Check the thread on my armored regiment - every single Squadron of Leman Russes has a Squadron Title, and each tank has a name relevant to that squadron and its function in the army.
I am rather proud of them.
Also I have a table of kills - this week, my 1st Armored Company killed its 52nd Land Raider.

My group gives names to models that do something memorable. I have a scout sniper that was on the floor in the middle of a major walk way in our game room. I almost stepped on him several times looking for him. Needles to say, his name is "Lucky" and he is getting the best camo cloak I can possibly paint...

I must always wear my IG dog tag, and must always field my female commissar, even though I know she will inevitably twist her ankle and have to leave the field within the first couple turns.
When the terrain is being set up (always by a third party) I circle the table several times whilst they're setting it up, then a few times once it's done.
On another note, and perhaps more peculiar, my larp characters all have their own underwear. My biggest fear is someone taking out my character when I'm not wearing the right knickers.
