So I'd noticed that this hadn't been posted up here yet and since I'm signed up to go I figured I'd also help get some word out. Looks like it's gonna be a great time.

Here is the Website: http://theindyopen.com/blog/

pending a setback it looks like we might get that rematch

Though hopefully its not that dreaded combo of DoW and KP as primary.

There FAQ includes witch hunters but not white dwarf SoB. Will they be allowed?

@Widowsbane

Nope. No FW rules are being allowed.

@TombKing

They are a valid 40k codex even if it is a WD Codex. So SoB from the White Dwarf would be valid. The FAQ is from the Nova and the WD SoB weren't allowed due to the 1-month minimum time frame.

This might be the only GT I can make it to this year so i plan to make it up by having fun enough for the rest of them. Does anyone know of any hotels that are near to the actual event? I dont need a luxury place I am happy with just somewhere safe to sleep.

BTW: Still trying to decide which army I want to bring. I wanna have fun but in the same sense I dont wanna drive 8 hours to get curb stomped . If only my sisters of battle were just a tad bit more complete and competitive.

Awesome to see 2 Necrons undefeated! Only thing that could make that top 4 better would be a 'Nid player

Out of all 64 players I dont think there is a single tyranid player.

I somehow survives games 1-4. Im now in the final 4 sad though as I was really looking forward to that rematch brad.

So far what I have had to run through:
Space Wolves (mech)
Dark Eldar (Multiple small unit spam)
Imperial Guard (a painful mech build and he went first it hurt)
Imperial Guard (another mech guard but I managed to go first and had superior longe range fire power this time)

I believe this is his list somewhat,
Orikan, the Stormlord, a ctan with writhing worldscape, a unit of lyche guard, a unit of immortals, 5 wraiths decked out so he can wound allocate, two units of scarabs, 6 tomb spiders, 2 units of warriors, and some crypteks or something. I don't know the exact list but i've played it a couple of times(im his brother i got got to be a test dummy for the list). It a hard list to approach because Orikan makes the whole board difficult on turn 1 and then the ctan makes it dangerous. Add in the Stormlord and his lightning and nightfight the first couple of turns you do nothing or go reserve. No vehicles or down range shooting in the list.

Congrats to the winner!

Another for Necrons aye? They've swept the all the recent US GT's I can think of now...

Templecon, then SVDM, now Indy Open...

Maybe GK's will finally lose some of the heat for being the current ish!

I was lucky enough to go 6-0 with the following list

Orikan

Imotekh

2 x tremor crypteks
1 x Chronomotron tek
1 combat lord w/ orb

7 lychguard w/ sheilds
1 Ctan (wrything worldscape, lord of fire)

5 x warriors
5 x warriors
5 x Immortals

5 scarabs
4 scarabs
5 wraiths (coils, pistol)

3 spyders
3 spyders

Games were

Rnd 1 Mech IG
Rnd 2 Mech IG
Rnd 3 DE venoms, ravagers, large hellion pack, large beast pack
Rnd 4 Necrons (Lots of AV 13....stalkers, cmd. barges, annhilation barges, 15 wraiths)
Rnd 5 GK (2 Ravens full of assassins and crusaders, techmarines with grenade belts.....4 Auto dreads, 4 razors with chead scoring units inside)
Rnd 6 Another Mech IG

Scarabs were heroes most games, Imotekh was a super hero game 6, and Orikan nearly singlehandedly won me games 4 and 5.

That tourney was a blast, great venue, fun, competetive games, good folks, and well run.

I would recommend this tourney to anyone vaguely interested in going next year.

Congrats Norbu!

Wow. Can't believe you won with Tremorcrons. I've been playing with them recently and found that they struggle more than my wraithwing against the better armies. Of course I don't really run either Immo or Orikan, but I am still experimenting with them.

Well done on the wins with a necron build that really isn't their best.

Yea my guard finally fell in game 6 finally to Immotep and that damn lightning. Going over the game I really cant see anything I could of done differently beside just reserving my entire army so lightning would not strike them. Though that would allow you to close the distance faster. It was really a lose lose and I need to get me a new scatter dice.

I believe the top 5 generals were. Note I believe the most represented army was IG.

Necrons 6-0
GK 5-1
Gk 5-1
IG 5-1
GK 5-1

In no particular order but hulk was the top 5-1 combined score. I believe I finished tied for 2nd best general and 5th overall.

With all do respect your tremorcrons build has had an inherent flaw which Hans has corrected. IMO combing av13 assault with the movement denial of tremorcrons tugs the army in two different directions. This list synergizes better with denying the enemy a movement phase.

I can't wait to read the batreps. I have been saying all along Tremorcronz are strong in a mech rich environment. Norbu made the complete commitment to this style of play featuring Orikan and the Stormlord - it paid off.

Do not fear

So, any word on the final awards/standings?

I take it Norbu is Best General with his 6-0 record

Then does anyone know Best Overall/the 2/3rd place spots for each?

Best Overall went to a GK player. I'm not sure if he was 5-1 or not. No sure about the rest of the standings as I had a long drive and didn't take the time to study the sheet. Once the results are up I'll do my write up for the event over on my blog.

My buddy played the best renaissance man on day 1 when he was 1 and 2. So I believe the renaissance man was in fact 4 and 2 as well. The funny thing is my buddy would of beat him but he messed up counting the kill points as he won 9 to 7 and my buddy completely forgot the win by three on kill points but he didn't wanna say anything after the fact the next day.
