Seeing as I have recently taken on the role of a Overlord and now have a legion of angry robots, I wanted to have the company address some of the missing models in the Necron codex.

Take a peak and see what we are working on for a stand-in for the Triarch Stalker. Im hoping for a retail price of mid 30s to to $40 for this kit. I dont like the idea of 50$ for a walker.. I dont want to be another Forge World as far as pricing goes.

I also have some different type of floating bugs coming out for the NEcron players out there, we arent copying the scarabs that are so prevalent, we are doing something a little different.

So save your pesos!

I like the idea of a Stalker as a sentient (I guess?) creature like a giant Tomb Spyder rather than a walker with a controller (like the actual model will be).

The concept sketch outdoes the codex picture by a long shot, and I very much agree with HMBC.

That reminds me, back then around half a year ago, there was a sci fi mini the size of warhammer Titan.

It was robotic insect shaped with TONS of lenses, anyone recall that thingy?

This looks pretty damn cool. I'm guessing it goes on a 60mm base?

Also gotta agree with everyone else. The more lenses the better. Pack em on mate!

TOTALLY AGREE!

I think that of the artwork we've seen so far, the Stalker, though it doesn't look bad per se, was the most disappointing to me. I wanted a self-contained giant robot walker with guns a-blastin'. I also don't like the Ghost Ark's pilot and the pilot + gunner of the Command Barge. I prefer the Battlestar Galactica way, where the craft itself is a single unit, not simply a piece of machinery piloted by a separate, anthropomorphic robot. It just seems redundant to me.

Part of the menace and design-interest of the Monolith is that not only is there no visible pilot, but there's not even a portion of the craft which seems like it could be a cockpit/control room. It's just a huge block of ("living") metal, slowly hovering across the battlefield, zapping all over the place. Its lack of apparent anthropomorphic direction, and lack of any conceivable ergonomic design for vehicular motion only serves to make it far more menacing. It's deadly AND puzzling, and the latter is what makes it terrifying. I think they dropped the ball on the new vehicles (though they look good). I wish they'd stuck to the more inscrutable, simple design sensibility of the Monolith.

FWIW, I'm converting my Ghost Ark to have a built-in non-Necron "pilot" of sorts. I'll post pics when i get enough done of a WIP (it's my main WIP at the moment) in my P&M Blog. When/if I get a Stalker (a big if - first baby is due mid-March. Be hard to justify a late Feb. 2nd wave purchase bonanza to the wife/mother-to-be) then I'll probably do something similar. At the very least eliminate the separate Necron pilot dude.

That is the exact reason why the Ghost Arc/Doomsday Cannon and Command Barge/Cannon Thingy don't appeal to me. I can live with a Lord riding on the Command Barge like it's his chariot, but the Barge itself shouldn't need actual pilots. At worst, if it must have a pilot, make it an integrated pilot like the Destroyers.

When I first saw the Stalker artwork in the Necron Codex I thought it looked great. I didn't actually notice the pilot at first. I still thing it's a good design, I'd just rather a big green crystal (or something... anything!) there rather than a dude pressing buttons and pulling levers. We're going to have the same problem with the Doomscythes or whatever they're called.

The thing is, necrons aren't simple killbots any more.
They do things the same way as they did when they were mortal, just this time they are robots.

The only reason destroyers are integrated, is because they are crazy.

Seconded, or maybe thirded? I'm removing all the pilots from my Necron vehicles, except for the command barge. I understand that robots driving vehicles is GWS's vision (and historically accurate, via lawnchair destroyers) but to me, it felt like they were moving in a better direction with necrons being fused into skimmer bodies. I prefer semi-sentient, autonomous vehicles for Necrons. They're supposed to have the most advanced technology in the galaxy, FFS, and they don't even have anything like the centuries-old machine spirit of the imperium (or even our current drone tech)? C'mon.

I'm very excited about this kit. It's looking good, and I also like the matrix-style of face with many eyes\lenses.

You mean this maybe?

I also like the look of it more than just some controlled mech for a necon to ride, would even fit inline with this.

Glad to see others agree - though I can see the appeal of drivers in the new, more autonomous-Necron fluff. In general, I like the new fluff, but I also miss the sense of incomprehensible doom, the mystery of not eons or millenia, but MILLIONS of years. I guess there's only so much of the old you can retain while still having the new make sense.

In a slightly differeent direction, I think the Flayed Ons and Destroyers is absolutely pants. Just terrible. I disregard it in my little fantasy-fluff imagination for my Necrons. Any Destroyers will just be Necrons who can fly and have bigger guns. Why the hell do they have to HATE HATE HATE everybody? And the Flayed Ones' "disease"? Don't get me started...

Really looking forward to seeing pics of the GW Triarch Stalker, since I will probably buy one. Still not 100% certain -- but if it looks good, and I think I can remove the pilot and convert it to a scary giant robot-scorpion-tank thingy, I think I'll purchase one

Sign me on board for at least 2 of those. Been using my Tomb Stalker for this bad boy and he's been kinda lonely setting up twin-linked shots. Are there going to be different guns for the particle shredder and the heavy gauss cannon?

The Walker model should be coming with all the available weapon options, once we have this version in production.

I am also discussing the possibility of having a later version out with a different torso for those who want a pilot.

Timing could probably have been better with the GW Triach Stalker indicated to come out next month. But hey, it's always nice if people have options to choose from.
