Hey guys, so I uploaded the images here rather than using the temporary B&C links...

I want to paint up the troop choices for armies I don't own that I find cool. Here're my ideas for painting sisters... do people like the schemes? 'N' I guess the basic question is whether to use the white trim or gold trim?

It was my opinion that Sisters armies always seem to be black or white (at least from my gallery searches). And whilst I like black on the chestplates, I think some more colour should be added, though I am a fan of 'muted' colours. I considered yellow but imagining sisters being so vibrant was odd (was thinking something like Craftworld Iyanden's colourscheme).

Personally, I like the white trim.

I like this!

I still think you should go with a bit more white to brighten them up a bit, in reality it is tough to make DA green pop.

My earlier suggestion still stands, use black for the outside of robes / cloth and white for the lining. This picture isn't the best but my sisters do the same thing (black cloth, white lining)

Gold Trim But think the Maks & aquilla's need to be gold aswell. Don't forget these are the daugters of the EoM.

I like the idea of a white trim on the robes but I doubt I could paint it convincingly. Was going to experiment on my GKs but not got around to it!

@toast36
Are you saying if I go with the white trim I should still have the aquila gold? I didn't give its colouring much bearing considering the fact that it varies so much amongst Space Marines (Fists paint the aquila red, DAs have it bone)

White is good for contrast but I think gold is more suited to the army.

My better half is painting her sisters with red armour (changing robe a sash colours for unit type) and it looks pretty good.

@Pretre Nice army.

Sorry slightly misleading that. I meant Gold Trim = Gold aquila. White Trim = White Aquila.

Thanks, Sonophos!

Also, I will fall in the gold trim camp. It helps the model really pop.

Something that I have done that you might consider... I do the Ministorum symbol (wings and I on the left side) in white first, go over the wings in gold and then paint the I the squad color. I also do hair or back of helmet in squad color. Squad designations really help on the table.

Well as of now I only plan on painting up one squad for display purposes.

I might expand to 500 points but, to be honest, although I like the Sisters' aesthetics, they just seem too similar to my DAs (rock up in Rhinos for close-range shooting) to warrant getting an army.

Well black and gold is unequivocally the best (blame my university for that), and it just so happens that it works really well with the green too.

I'm personally torn on the idea... literally 50/50

I think gold does a lot for an 'ornate' look and definitely gives it all a more 'reliquy' feel. But it seems 'oh so Space Marine'. I think a white trim is a fair bit more distinctive and also speaks more for, say, the 'purity' of the sisters themselves. I'm also wondering if the helm and fleurs don't look too lonely with the gold.

I'm going to paint the bolters white, though, so that might balance it all out.

I really don't know what I am going to do. Might wind up painting two test models. Hardly hard to re-paint a trim as that's the only difference barring the Minostorum symbol.

I just had a thought that the whole black with white trim is VERY nuns with guns.

If you're painting the guns white it would probably be best not to go for gold trim as you may lose some of the simplicity in the colour scheme [ed: says the Raven Guard guy].

Aye, tbh, the more I factor in other things like bolters and hairstyles, the more I think the gold will look out of place.

Speaking of which, what colour hair do people think I should go for?

I worry that white will be too un-subtle and might clash with the main body of the armour. Black risks being too muted but it will definitely go. I want uniformed, dyed hair across the whole squad 'n' I think black/white are the only options for SoB if we keep it fluffy.
