Okay so I decided to open a terrain log where I will post all of our future work in 2012 (and hopefully after). Up until now I've posted threads for each work and that just isn't practical. so here goes, first of all couple of stuff inspired by Skyrim, hope you like them

Have a great day,

Milos

Here is a little waterfall, again, inspired by Skyrim. I am still experimenting with water effects here, once I master it (or at least get a good grasp) I'll post a tutorial. For now you;ll have to settle for this

Couple of Arcane Ruins shots: the standing stones can be removed for easier miniature placement.

Everything looks fantastic! I think your water effects experiment was a great success, so feel free to dive right on into a tutorial any time.

If you do plan to keep updating with new pieces, you may want to consider moving this to the P&M Blogs forum, though.

You can flag the thread with "wrong forum" using the little yellow triangle above your original post or you could PM a mod, asking them to move it. I'd almost say you're better having started off here, though, as P&M threads usually get a bit more initial attention than blogs. Now we're hooked, though, so we'll come to you looking for updates!

This thread just keeps getting better and better. Keep up the great work, dreamspirit!

Looking at the one pic of the stronghold with the roof removed, I'm seeing two sheets that make up the wall which appear to be roughly 5mm thick, each. Am I to surmise that you used foamcore, stripped the paper on one side and carved out the stonework yourself? If so, . If not, I'd love to know how you did it!

Oadie, I know I said it already, but you have an amazing eye for details. everything you said is correct those are two sheets of 5mm thick styro, and all the cobblestone on the Fortress is carved by my mighty pencil. Yes it was boring job, but you have to admit it payed of.

Serder, thank you for the support and comment I appreciate it very much!

i have made a few pieces much like his work. and yes that is avery good away to do it... if you are going for a more modern brick look you would leave the paper on and just put indentations with a pointy tool. in the shape of bricks

Now for some High Elf stuff!

Mountain temple of the Elves, very cool looking on the battlefield, quite big, plenty of space to hide your miniatures, and again plenty of space to fight on the actual terrain. Let me know what you think!

Excellent work, I checked out your website, do you only do fantasy or will you eventually expand to Sci-Fi like 40K type terrain?

I really think that they are well done and look great.... The only minor quibble would be that they do indeed still look like "painted foam" I think its mainly because you haven't used other material to scatter around the diorama... Like popsicle sticks for logs etc that sort of thing....

With that said I would LOOOOOOOOOOVE to play on terrain like this its great stuff and is light years beyond anything i can do or ever will be able to do =]

I would agree - I knew there was something about the pieces that I could not place; they do lack a certain randomness that you get in nature - adding in some cork or natural stones to the pieces would really help give some variety to the texture and feel of the pieces.
