I posted something similar to this last night and I guess I need just a tab bit more help if you guys don't mind.
I've narrowed it down to dark eldar, CSM, or tau
I love the look of all of them but I think dark eldar are the only viable choice right now but this would definitely be a for fun army. I've been leaning towards dark eldar but I'm afraid I'll run into the same problem I did with my blood angels and it be a bit to spammy to win =[
So, I guess the question is if you guys were starting a new army and only had blood angels what would you think for a later competitive but for now fun and painting army =)

Personally I love CSM - fun to paint, model and convert, a number of fun builds you can use.

Although they are MEQ, so you may find them too like BA to give you something new to play with.

Aside from that, the DE look pretty cool. Don't really know all that much about how they play or do on the table, but they could be fun to paint.

Tau... just not really interested in them or their look

I'm just kinda eyeing those dar eldar lol they're scaing me though soo many new types of painting I'm not used to ><
I hear they're at least viable though whereas CSM and tau are meh til their new books come out =[

Well, I'd opt for CSM since they get a new codex soon and can generally can be played as a siege army (IW), infiltrating force (Alpha Legion), assault army (Khorne), army of psykers (TS), tough to beat army (Nurgle), terrorizing force (Night Lords), and a force consisting of drug addicts (EC).

I hear the possessed they have are worthless and their battleforces are awful =[
Do you think it's worth picking them up now? I read on the article everyone's been writing on that they were supposed to release a new battleforce with the codex

I'd hold on until the new Chaos release. Tau are in the pipes for an upgrade soon too. Choose the one you most like the look and fluff of. Then pick up a few basics like a troops choice, Hq or battleforce. If you decide on CSM I'd just pick up an HQ and wait to see whats in the new battle force,.

See, I read about the tau and the chaos and I guess that's some of the reason I want them ><

Yeah wait on csm and tau both are due by summer at least. If you like shooting go tau. The new rail gun rules are disgustingly good.
For csm if you like bizarro world, magic, and crystals play tzeench. If you like blood, guts, bronze n skulls play khorne. If you like fatties, boogers, n farts play nurgle. If you like bright colors, titties, and leather play slaanesh.

I would shoot for tau. I got my Eldar just for the fun of painting them. Fun to play as well, I have painted Tau and think they are really fun to paint. Plus you can be assured that the Tau will get a beefed up codex soon.

I find a decent dark eldar army for not that expensive and they're not painted so I hope to get them and fly around on evil space ships hitting people with whips
How competitive are they and I've got 4 raiders and 2 ravagers is that enough?

It'll depend on your local environment and what else you have in your list. Most armies spam three Ravagers, but I think two plus some Raiders with DLs should be sufficient (at least combined with some Blasters and Haywire grenades).

You may want to salt in a few Venoms as well. Most net lists you see spam a jillion of them, but honestly you can do quite well with a mix of Venoms and Raiders.

I would choose tau in your position.

CSM are basically like your blood angels, and they play very similar.

Dark eldar are very assault based, though they require finess... just like blood angels.

Since your blood angels are assault based, Tau are all shooting, all the time. It would be beneficial to choose an army with a different play style than your blood angels.

If you think DE are your only choice for competitiveness, your only thinking of which codex is newest. Tau and CSM are still viable and powerful, even after the silly CSM FAQ that came out recently. Tau themselves practically break the metagame, with so many people using MSU and lightly armored transports. Tau excel at killing small units and vehicles.

Is there a lot of variety though with the dark eldar? It's not just spamming assault marines at least they have some vehicles and other things lol, my BA are just so spammy =[
Are tau getting a new battleforce as well? I like that they're as shooting based as they are but I've seen what happens when they get closed on and it doesn't end well for them ><
