I was shocked when I worked this one out but the boosted version of Raise Dead gives you exactly the same sized unit (cast on 14+) as the normal version (cast on 9+). They both give a unit size of 2D6 + 3, this has to be wrong for the boosted version.

Does any one know what the real value of this should/most likely be? I'm guessing it could be 3D6 + 3 but it could well be 2D6 + 5.

GWs QA must improve.

Edit: my reading must improve

I think its correct, useless but correct. The trick is that the larger version gives you skeletons instead of zombies. Ofc, skeletons cant be summoned above starting level so I would always prefer to do zombies. I dont think its a mistake though.

You can boost above the starting size with Skeletons as long as your Necromancer has the Master of the Dead rule. Only one Necromancer per army can have said rule, though.

I suggest you don't believe anything posted by thedarkavenger unless confirmed by other regular posters here at Dakka. He has shown he is incapable of basic English comprehension.

As above, 14+ gets you skeletons.
Master of the dead (1 per army) can increase skeletons.

Honestly though, the 2D6+ wiz level zombies you get with each invoke makes zombies a much better choice. Unless you think that WS2 and 5+ armor is enough of a bonus to justify the reduced replacement rate and the increase casting cost.

I was under the impression that as the unit was not bought with the list a summoned skeleton unit has no starting size.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

So if you raise a new unit you can't raise it beyond that size?

Thats kinda lame.

Is it worth any VPs too?

Explicitly states the they are not worth any vps

You can increase it if you have a necromancer with the right upgrade
