I am starting an Imperial Guard army and was wondering which would be better.

Just regular Cadian Imperial Guard army or a Death Korps of Krieg army
Any suggestions would be great

Do you have over 1000 dollars to spend on resin toy soldiers? If you do go dkok. If not go cadian.

Fluffwise they both have high victory tallies, DKoK uses human wave tactics whilst Catachan's tend to use Guerrilla tactics. Otherwise it really depends on your wallet

I can do dkok... just wondering if I should start with a Commissar and 2 Grenadiers squad or go command hq and troop heavy

Death Korps of Krieg would be alot more fun to play than Generic IG.

Personally if I could afford it I would go DKK. I like the look and their rules but not so mad on their fluff.

The codex is in IA5 siege of Vraks part 1, they are pretty solid. WS4 and the majority of units have stubborn as standard so infantry horder tactics would work even better.

Plus being forge world you get access to some nice tank option Coaxial on Vanquishers and Conquerers.

The hades drill, has some fun sounding rules.

I'd start with the CCS and troops, the commissar is a nice model but less essential in a DKK list than in normal IG.

As mentioned it depends. you could always go for a blob guard at the start, then add vehicles to the mix?

If you want to go for a close combat guard army, I think DKOK would be best. DKOK can have sergeants with power fists hidden in blobs and can take a HQ choice that gives blobs feel no pain if I am not mistaken. That makes for an insanely powerful CC guard army!

If you want something more mechanized, I think Cadians are better since you can take Vendettas and Vets with 3 plasmas or meltas.

Just my 2 cents.

I believe, I might start with ccs being my main hq and having the qaurtermaster for fnp. Plus one troop choice being a blob of footsloggers and the other being engineers so I can use the Hades Drill

Then I might just jump into fast attack and get some Death Riders
