All these for £20! Absolutely mint condition, untouched. Proper nostalgia trip, the first time round when I played 40K I had that very Ultramarines Codex and remembered seeing the others.

That really is a trip down memory lane right there. I am a huge collector of codexs and rules books from the older additions of 40k and even to a degree fantasy.

Those are some cool books to put on the shelf but that price was a little high for me. You can routinely find these types of books at the quarterly auctions at my FLGS for a couple dollars each.

Sweet find. Perhaps a bit pricey for a charity shop, but the 40k Battles book is quite a bit more rare than the rest of them. This year I completed my collection of all 2nd edition 40k codicies just for the fluff and pics.
You're going to have a great time reading through them!

Hi all. It worked out at about £3 a book. Considering they're absolutely pristine, and I mean as if they've never been read before, and it was all for a good cause, I'm pretty happy with the purchase.
They've got some incredible fluff in, as NoArmorSave mentioned, plus lots of very cool old models.
But my big reason for buying was sheer nostalgia. When I first walked into a shop as a snotty-nosed eleven-year-old, they were on the shelf. From the cut out and paint banners to the fold-double-and-glue wargear cards, it's just like I remember.
Also, the Eldar Avatar was incredible back then!

Still have mine sitting proudly in reach . It is a pity GW lowered the price fractionally for the books while reducing the quality and page significantly in 3rd otherwise I may have continued to buy each army book, even now I don't buy each one though tempted to get the fantasy ones on ebay as getting into fantasy a lot more these days. £20 for all of them is a pretty good price, pity angels of death and chaos isn't there as they really were the meatyest .
Quick question, as you said they were pristine does the battles book have the bunker templates in it?

Good question, I'll check tonight. I'd assume so, though.
Angels of Death is actually at that shop too, but it's priced at £15. I'm going back in today to speak with someone who isn't a 75 year old lady to see if I can get a better price...

I remember a guy a while back who saw a box of bits advertised in the local paper for something like £20, being sold by a mother clearing out her son's room, who I believe had either moved out or gone to university. He bought the bits, and it was massive, and thought he has got a really good deal. Upon further investigation he discovered a complete unbuilt Warhound titan in the box too.

Yip, and I'm tempted to track those down. Angels of Death I can go and pick up, so I just need those final two. I think it'd be a nice little nostalgia collection to own.
Oh yes, and I just checked the Battles book, it contains the original card Battle Bunker cut out and build pages. I'm going to try and get a proper scan of them, if that's of any interest?

Great find! I've still got my 2nd ed codexes. Wish I hadn't lost AoD, though. It's a great one!
I'd check the terms of use for the bunker. It's likely that a copy is allowed for personal use only, but not for distribution.

Codex Assassins was £5 when released under 2nd Edition. In 3rd edition it was much thinner and came with an issue of White Dwarf but later was sold for £2.50 or something. The cover artwork was similar.
Codex Chaos is a good one, thick and full of info, the sections in the back cover cultists and daemon armies.
Sisters of Battle is probably the least common, it seems to sell for a bit more than the others on eBay. I got mine when GW dumped them at the end of 2nd, I paid £2 for Sisters codex and £1 for the Assassins codex.
