It struck me as a question why GW dont sell more merchandising products, things like posters, t-shirts, rucksacks, hell maybe even coffee mugs etc.
I know little about global econimcs but surely it would be "relatively" cheap to get these items produced en mass, slap some nice artwork or a logo on it and distribute them, even via a third party sales company?
I would certainly pick up things like posters and a few t-shirts.

Am I missing something obvious in the chain?

At various times they have sold most of those things, seemingly to varying degrees of success.

Black Library sell prints and posters, and if you go to Warhammer World there's a few bits and bobs you can buy

True, I have some of the BL posters myself but was thinking more on a larger scale, few of us have ever probably been to WW.
I suppose as you said it down to degrees of success, how many people would buy that coffee mug for a present? Not sure.
But surely t-shirts and posters would be hot stuff?
Their artwork is stunning in some places and with such a backlog of material one could produce a huge range.

I would gladly buy some coffee mugs for myself and most certainly for my father who got me into this hobby LOL. Honestly though id love to buy a proffesional laser etched cofee pot for his coffee maker with all the armies logos in 40k going along it.

There were problems with the Bulldog deal that got it killed. I heard it was non-payment of merchandising fees.

A shame, as some of the stuff was pretty cool.

I wish they would, I'd definitely buy some shirts and other bits and bobs.

We must all bood together, or assuredly we shall all bood separately.

Ahem. Anyway, I remember that they used to have a lot of neat stuff on the Black Library website. Belt Buckles, t-shirts, a Tanith 1st pin (I wanted that so badly), a replica Bolter round.

It's a shame that they don't make any of that anymore.

Well, I know a site where people do sell stuff that has 40k and fantasy logo's and stuff. Etsy.com there are all sorts of shops that do stuff like that. My wife picked me up two warhammer shirts. One with an Aquila on it and one with an UltraMarines logo on it. Though, those are now special commission only. But, Its good stuff and fairly easy on your wallet.

They sell toy soldiers to children.

Anything more would require a cognitive thought process.

Its crazy to think they dont do mugs and things. Take a look at the EvE shop

http://store.eveonline.com/

They sell model ships from the game, T-shirts, pens mouse mats mugs etc

All this from a computer game with what 100k+ players?

@thenewmexicangeneral.

there are companies who could do that for you. I think Warmill would be able to do something like that if you sent them an e-mail.
