Subject: Best army case or trays?

Jealous that Horus is Warmaster

Howdy,
Been looking into getting a new set of cases for my models. I've been having quite a bit of fun with the Battle Foam custom tray creator for my Dark Eldar.
Is Battlefoam an exclusively U.S based fim? As unless I'm clicking something wrong (I don't think I am) it appears delivery for any of the items I wanted to purchase is close to £30. Whilst I think the creator tray is excellent and would certainly be my first choice I'm a little put off by the high postage costs.
I also then thought if I created a set of trays just for my Dark Eldar, at some point I would aslo need a set for my Marines and Tau, plus any other future armies I may get. Talking serious expense now so thought I'd hold off and ask about a bit first.
My mate uses the GW range exclusively but I'm not overly keen.
My models are stored in display cases when I'm not gaming so the ideal solution would be one set of multi-purpose cases that I can use for the one army I need to carry about.
Anyone know of a decent product out there? Any particular favourites or bad experiences I can avoid?

The GW cases are a bit meh tbh.
I use the KR multicase for my Dark Eldar.
I've got the medium hardcase, and it stores my razorwing, 6 raiders, 3 venoms, 3 talos, 29 wracks, 20 warriors, sliscus, 8 haemonculi, a Tau Ethereal, 24 fire warriors, 10 pathfinders and 6 stealth suits, with room to spare. (note - each slot holds warriors / wracks / fire warriors / pathfinders).
I've currently got my Grotesques and Tau Battlesuits / Drones in a converted Skyray box, but will hopefully get foam for them this year.
I'm looking at getting the KR Card Cases + carrybag for expanding my storage so I can pick-and-choose what force etc I'm taking with me on the day.

I now own 1 of each of the below and I will rank according to what I consider quality though less good for multifunction:
Battle Foam - best quality but very specific for what you can take in it. Sometimes smaller units like infantry can be taken in other army slots though not guaranteed. If you got the money, I'd get battle foam for everything I own.
KR - Decent protection but pre-cuts might not fit all your army if they have wild poses like GK halbers or comissars lifting swords. Saves me time in that it was pre-cut.
Sabol "Army Transport" - foam is also fair but you cut what you want when you buy their kit so might be most multi-use you can get. fairly cheap. Though the problem comes with cutting the darn thing. Very hard to glue back together if you make a mistake. Frankly I didn't like cutting foam very much tbh.
GW - meh, you already seen it
Converted egg cartons - the cheap man's carry case. Somewhat universal but the building process can be kind of long with how much paper towels you end up using. Alot less pro and doesn't work well for tanks at all but can handle some infantry for the not-so-consuming player. Alot less "pro" but hey, better than nothing unless you live like across the street from your games and can balance everything standing in a shoebox lid.
BTW if you do plan on using said shoebox lid, I'd recommend using 2 lids inside of eachother just so it won't suddenly bend in the middle cause you overloaded it and half your guys fell on the side walk despite your best limbo contest pose to catch them. ... yes.. this has happened to me. Stop laughing!
As far as I know, you can get anything shipped anywhere now a days so I wouldn't worry bout it.

Thanks for the replies guys. Here's where I'm at:
After long hard thought the lure of the custom tray is too appealing so will order that for my Dark Eldar army! What can I say I'm a big kid
I play these by far the most often and can't see that changing anytime soon so makes sense they should get it.
I'm also gonna order a selection of the regular trays so they can accomodate my Marines/Tau as and when they are needed.
This way I can just buy the one case and all the trays can be mixed and matched whenever required.
@sudojoe: Shame no-one caught you on film in your vain limbo attempt! would of bagged you £250! Haha
Thanks for the responses guys

I've been using battlefoams custom foam tray creator for sabol designs cases, and it's been working well.
The case isn't as important to me as the foam, and the sabol cases, while somewhat flimsy, hold up perfectly with foam inside. Just don't go chucking them down stairs.

As an alternative to foam, I have copied a buddy of mine by gluing magnetic sheets to the bottom of my models and carrying them in a metal 3 -drawer toolbox. This has made clean up, organizing, and pulling out my army at least 4 times faster. It also takes up a lot less space than my old Army Transport bags.

I don't write the rules. My ego just lives and dies by them one model at a time. |

I actually glue metal washers on the bottom of my models. That way it adds a bit of weight to mine and I can then plop them onto a square base with magnetic strip on top so I can sub it into fantasy
But same idea as you too cept I would need a metal box with the magnetic sheet inside the box. Just reversed wehre we'd put the magnet and the metals XD

That's the excessive amount of postage I just paid to get it to Australia. IIRC, Battlefoam have a UK based distribution center now, so shipping is a lot less for people in the UK. Give it a try, Battlefoam really are the best. And when you're paying to proctect expensive models, you might as well get the best.

KR multicase are the absolute best for price and space. I've heard great thing about Battlefoam's product (company not so much), but KR is significantly cheaper and very, very good.
