Hey guys, I'm tempted to start a side project from painting necrons (soo many necrons) and I wanted to build an army around this guy:

with modding him to have a shield also from scribor.

So basically a "lion" army. I love shields and terminators, so I was thinking count as Deathwing. These will be more of a fun display army, but I wanted to have an army I could play locally without people wondering if I was smoking crack writing my list. : P

Greens and golds are a definite, with earthy tones to bring it all together. I also love MCs, and with the SW codex I could do some awesome count as thunderwolves, but then termies would be ridiculously priced points wise.
Draigowing would be on the top of the list.. except they can't take shields! : ( Thunder hammers aren't a must.. but shields are.

Any ideas would be awesome! Thanks!

I wish I could find just the claws.

Beautiful models. I used Huron as my Belial conversion. The Dark Angels Deathwing list is pretty amazing, and using all Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield is a pretty good, especially since you can still take Cyclone Missile launchers, which make for some Great Anti-tank. It's a solid list, nothing but Terminators with maybe a Land Speeder or two for spice. It's not GREAT against hordes, but everything else? Epic.

The correct question is, would I be enjoying this hobby if I did this?

The correct audience is you.

That would be sick. I like your idea of using the SW codex for amazing TWC conversions, b/c i can see where this is going.

Go for it, and post many pictures.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

You can get more Lion shoulderpads from FW's Astral Claws range.

I think some Bitz sites also offer huron's parts for sale, but you have to check quite frequently because they sell out pretty quickly. That said, why don't you just buy the Huron model and use him as a terminator in your army? The claw, flamer, head, banner and vials are seperate from the body so you can customize him anyway...

Anyway good luck with this army! I hear Scibor models are ridiculously expensive!

Just to let you know, that scibor stuff is big. Those shields may not work on a SM. They are beautiful models though, can't go wrong with buying those.

Little bit of an update. First of all, thanks for the responses and ideas. After lots of consideration my paint scheme will follow the model above very closely.

I'm creating a custom Chapter, but I'm still in the process of creating their back story and lore and will have that with'in the blog. As far as the shields go, I'm thinking they will be be big, but not too big for terminators and the largeness of them will fit well with in the lore.

Chapter Name: Pride of Dukun
Home planet: Dukun among the Eastern Fringe
Geneseed: Unknown

Story in progress: Small contingent left of a already small chapter. Chapter master disappears into the warp with most of the chapter and small group is left on planet. Planet is reminiscent of Earth circa 500-100BC with mix of celt and north african heritage. The members there start to adopt cultures of bound honor and guardianship. Chapter master and small group of chapter finally emerge, corrupted by chaos forces of Slannesh. Sargent Palathian is forced to fight the chapter master and though he wins, he is gravely wounded. A group of Shaman leaders give their life to save the hero through their own magic (warp?) and worship of their planet. He is revived but now their chapter has very little resources on the edge of space and would now probably be marked for heresy by being involved with the local religious practices. With no other choice he takes up the banner of the planet as it's Guardian. Though he believes the local faith to be just another form of the Emperor, other chapters or Inquisition would think otherwise..

Base Codex: Grey Knights
Palathian: Draigo
Paladins (Brothers of the Pride): Large shields for warding staves with a mix of claws and hammers. Close Combat oriented.
Circumstances leave them with very few members, so each group always has a shield brother in charge of being a Guardian (warding staff) while the Brothers of the claw destroy any threat.
??? (Dreadknight): Montourous creature tamed from the planet with count as hammer and flamer? Maybe..

Since they have so small a force, they fill their ranks with the local populace. Chimeras and cheap units.
Units that would fit nicely for the world. Crusaders. Normal guys with shields. Bound deamons (using fantasy dryads, going along with the nature worship, shamanism)

Anyway, once I get him ordered I'll put this all in a blog.

Something I need help with is finding some awesome looking hammers and polearms that would fit their look.

Edit: More Count as?

Chimera w/
Wardancers as assassins maybe 2?
At least one crusader, possibly the GW model, I think it's pretty nice.
5 or so Guardsmen w/ storm bolters.
a couple bound deamons using dryads.

Wouldn't give me the best squad in the world, but would fit in with their building lore.

Alternative play as army lists:

So I can either play him as Draigo with a paladin list, a salamander list, or a DA list. Which do you guys think would be better?

I bandied around the idea of a lion-themed SW force for a little while after this model came out:

Say what you will about the catgirl on top, the actual lion mech begs to be used as TWC. There's always the lions from the high elf chariot, too.

Actually I'm diggin' the kung-fu kitty on the left... could make a good objective marker...
