I think a few years ago people were putting up fliers for Warhammer/40k and even had a regular gaming night. I don't remember if it was KAF or Bagram, though.

Anyway, might be a good idea to throw up a flyer up on a few of the actual boards around the base. I'm sure you'll get a few people interested.

I'm not over there but I have a buddy out at FOB Dwyer that might be up for playing. He doesn't have an army there but I'm sure he'd be down for throwing some dice.

I will be heading that way here in the next couple weeks, not sure where I will end up. If I end up in KAF I will be sure to throw you a PM.

Mainly a Fantasy player, but if there is more 40k I would be down for that.

Yeah, there was only one or two players in Leatherneck when I was there. Painted most of my Templars on duty, though. Actually got a counselling for it, haha.

Try the UK cafe down by the UK EFI facilities - as of late 2010 it had stacks of wargaming boardgames (not miniature) in there which anyone could play.

Always looking to meet SE London gamers for Saga, Frostgrave.

Man, I hate to ask in a thread like this [if you can direct somewhere proper, perhaps?] but how do you manage to ship out Warhammer, of all things, to Afghanistan? Are you allowed /x/ amount of personal belongings? Are you all front-line troops or fixed at base?

Sorry for the questions! I've always wanted to know.

During my last deployment I just had it mailed to me when I got where I was going. I didn't bring enough to actually play with though, I was combat arms and only had time to paint a little bit here and there. That said, you could probably put it in your stuff, we had big tough boxes we put in containers and there was no weight limit, just space and my boxes weren't really full.

Note: This is for US Army, despite my current location. I have no idea how guys in other armies do it.

I pick up some when I go home and have some shipped in care packages from home.

I live in the ROBs too. I am a contractor and have only one lead and 4 coworkers, so no one checks me for S#$@. But I spend about 60% of my life out of a back pack, coming home to a bed and a wall locker with less then 1500 pts of mismatched toys.

Well, I'm here most days working from about 9am to about 10pm. The days I have the most time is on Sundays which most of the people don't start wroking until about noon. I have a conference room we could actually set something up in.

I'll send you a PM with phone numbers and what not and we can arrange something.

Post, I used to make semi regular orders to Wayland games when I was in Iraq and provided that you don't order things like modelling knives and that it isn't too heavy it will arrive a day or so after it would in the UK. I painted an entire army during my tour and I bought the entirity of it and my paints while I was deployed. All UK overseas bases have something called a BFPO address, effectively a postcode,I think that the Americans use a similar system.

Is there anything wargames related in Bastion?

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

There is a front line?? O.o News to me.

Don't mind the tasteless joke.

I was at the Asadabad firebase in 2004 and had a dreadnought shipped to me. Unfortunately I was a little "busy" in a STA platoon and ended up selling it to some British gentlemen, and was for the most part unable to get any gaming in during my time there.

I'm not in the Marines anymore, but I am glad to see that you guys are finding ways to entertain yourselves with Warhammer overseas.

Keep up the good work.

You really, really don't want to be posting phone numbers on an open forum; especially your phone number while on ops.
