So what do you guys think of this?

I play 1 squad of 10 scouts... With camo cloaks and Tellion... I like to put them in a ruin, then ill take a tech Marine and bolster it...

Now I played a guy yesterday who fielded 2 daemon princes which I killed both with very lucky shooting by turn 2 all thanks to the scouts...

He then proceeded to call it the most broken choice in the game because he could not touch them with the 2+ cover save... He than gave up...

Next I have another game lined up but since he was the kids friend he refused to play me because I have the most cheap unit in the game...

Do you guys think scouts are "broke" and cheesy? I mean they are a pretty hefty points cost for 10 with sniper rifles, cloaks and the big T...

Uh......no
I assure you that C:SM scouts are not 'broken or cheesy' at all.

Tell your friend to play a GK player with LRC's full of assassains and psydreads. Then he will long for the days of C:SM scouts.

C:SM is broken? Please, give me a freaking break.

Play against Long Fang with their split fire shennanigans + Grey Hunters that is what all tactical squads suppose to be.

Play against GK where their assassins come with 2+ cover save AND have the ability to REMOVE your invul save.

Play against Eldar where they put Rangers into buildings (not ruins) and just sit there killing you off.

Play against BA where they just zoom around with their Stormraven and power of the machine spirit twin-linked melta your face every single turn.

C:SM is a second tier book. Their saving faces are only Null Zone, Sternguards, Assault Termies, (maybe Thunderfire cannon and Land Speeder Storm). Note: scouts are not included because they are objective camper. A group of outflanking anything will wipe them out.

...urrrr... I dunno

Tell him to play against a real army, then quit his whining.
Hell, if he thinks that's broken wait til he gets run over by my Warboss' bodyguard in their kustom-kitted battlewagon (and that's not even that special a unit!)

So your opponent got his panties in a twist because his two meta HQ's got killed by snipers? Is he 12?

If he hates those, try 3 thunderfire cannons as well as the scouts, and make everything else in your list designed to kill tanks and be in melee. He will cry.

Even better you kinda cheated yourself. If you have Telion you don't need to buy camo cloaks since he confers the cover save bonus to the rest of the squad while he is alive. *Per the Main Rules FAQ.

Snap! I actually just played against a mate who did exactly the same thing, except two seperate squads and no telion. In six rounds of shooting, including missle launchers in each squad he managed to kill just six guardsman and destroy a single scout sentinel. Of course they absorbed a hell of a lot of spite fire from me. I ended up charging four guard squads into rapid fire range and still couldn't budge them!

What annoyed me the most though, was in the same game being introduced to those damned Lucius Drop pods...didn't know about the revised rules at that point and I got slapped with two of them turn one...bye bye half my armour... :(

Lucius Drop Pod needs to be accepted into game before it can be played. It is not in standard 40K, it is Forge World IA stuff.

Whoever played it against you should have told that to you EXPLICITLY.

10 scouts? Broken? No way.

Using a techmarine to bolster... sounds reasonable (Id have taken Lysander, personally).

Your opponent has been reading too many forums and used 2 Daemons princes because the interwebz told him to...

He gave up? Bad sportsmanship. I got smashed by Necrons a few weekends ago and I played through even thought I was down to a single dreadnaught on turn 3.

His friend refused to play because you used scouts? Sounds like you got some newbs at your club.

Ignore them. Your list wasn't broken. Just better.

@DeffDred: I don't like New Crons. I think they are broken. Kudos for staying cool.

I find sniperscouts fun. i ran a squad of 4 snipers and a heavy bolter.
They can do some nasty damage. and the boards we use(48 inces square) means if positioned they can hit anywhere.

:(

Unfortunately i did agree because I wanted to start using some of the IG tanks and Salamanders in the future...

Bad move...I'd give them all up now to never see those pods again, but the box is open now...

That is correct. Please check the FAQ. Of course the entire squad loses Stealth if Telion is ever taken out.

Basically the unit takes the best save avialable which means they take Telion's bonus as long as he is alive.
Imperial Guard can do even worse with a Lord Commisar( I beleive ) giving an entire platoon the increased cover save.

Well. That is not how it works. Telion has Stealth which he confers upon the squad. This allows them to have Stealth without taking camp cloak upgrade.

I think your opponent didn't know what the assault phase was for, because that would clear up those scouts right quick, since typically they're a really wussy unit.
