Alright, someone asked earlier what part we'd want to play if GW asked us to be in a movie. Of course, I'd fulfill my dream of donning Termie armor, growing a beard and a hair-metal up do, and slashing through chaos cultists as a SW WG. My question, however, is this. What army/armies would you focus on (If it's GK you're in luck!), and who would you cast in the primary roles?

If I was in charge of a 40k movie I would make eldar the good guys fighting slannesh daemons or cultists on a maiden world. However since the space marines are the poster boys the would have to be when good guys so i would love to see the actions of captain shrike against the orks play the central plot of the movie to take it away from the usual action movie motive of blowing stuff up because you can.

Do you want us to cast our selves? Or do you want us to tell you the best leading man/ woman? I would be best as that fat funny guy who dies right after the black dude. We all know that guy, But personally i think Danny Davito would make the best leading man. I have always wanted to see what he would look like being 8 foot tall. Knowing holly wood now a days, Dwayne Johnson would be the lead character and we would have another Doom.

and of course the movie would be space marines vs every one else. They would first fight eldar, than chaos ending with a huge battle with orks, and a 5 min battle with tau where tau end up running away and crying. The ones that live, that is.

I would make 3'rd Armageddon War movie.
It would include Orks, Eldar, Guard, Astartes and Sisters of Battle ( hell yeah ).

My cast:
-Ian Whyte as Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka.
-Sean Connery as Yarrick.
-Bred Pit as Dante.
-Orlando Bloom as Mephiston.
-Brus Willis as Cadian Kasrkin Sergeant.
-Milla Jovovich as Canonnes from the Order of our Martyred Lady.
-Morgan Freemen as Imperial Inquisitor from Ordo Xenos.
-Cate Blanchett as Eldar Farseer from Craftworld Ulthwe.
-Craig Parker as Eldrad.
-various others... ( I can't remember now )

I would do it in two and a half hours movie, with Avatar level special effects and epic music I would use from Two Steps From Hell, Epicon and Clint Mansell.

I started one on the best actor for a commissar a while ago. I stand firm that Harrison Ford would make a great Commissar or Company Commander while Clint Eastwood would be Commissar Yarrick Hands down.

Yes there was a 'who would you cast for a HH film', I think it was, and I'm not sure about Liam Neeson. I don't understand the obsession with him, I don't think he's particularly great, just average. There are far, far better British actors out there with both greater acting talent and stage presence.

I'd want to see the Eisenhorn books turned into films, contains everything you would want - intrigue, character facing the darkness within them, love interest complete with torment, interesting characters and a decent plot. Could easily to appeal to both 40k'ers and people who don't know the setting. But who to cast as whom... hmmm. Not sure.

Sounds good to me! Actually I'd have him play every character who dies in a gratuitous manner - I haven't forgiven him, and I won't, for his abysmal acting in Kingdom of Heaven.

I'd have thought that CGI would have cost more if you got voice actors in as well. CGI also feels really, really fake to look at, for me that is. I much prefer seeing actors & extras on real backdrops than lots of copy-paste CGI.

A big ass budget live action Horus Heresy quadrilogy would be awesome!

Obviously you would need a huge cast but here is my Mournival.

Loken - Ryan Gosling.
Abaddon - Tom Hardy.
Torgaddon - Idris Elba.
Aximand - James McAvoy.

Four great young actors who could carry a franchise. Though I feel bad for leaving Fassbender out.

It doesn't cost more, it tends to cost around 1/4 another movie on average. CGI doesn't have to look fake, look at the cinematics for dawn of war 2, those are easily CGI movie quality and they are old.

Actors, props, costumes, and more all cost money. Do you want crappy looking/moving power armor, or CGI armor that's exactly like the fluff?

If I wanted to, and was good enough with a few programs I could easily create a CGI of some 40k stuff, the primary issue comes with the computers needed to render the film, powerful computers at that. When making CGI movies, the computer teams tend to render for weeks/months at a time, or less with more PC's.

I don't even care about Dr. Who, and I still think David Tenant would make a great Ciaphas Cain. If there was going to be a more "hard" movie, then Daniel Craig would be my favored commissar actor. While there are lots of good actors who get brought up all the time with these threads like Clint Eastwood and Christopher Lee, they're all a bit old to be running around and swordfighting, Count Dooku notwithstanding.

Mariska Hargitay would most definitely be a Battle Sister. That way she can do what she does in Law & Order: SVU, but with more explosions and less abuse.

Anyway.... Orlando Bloom is too *shudder* handsome for a job as a good guy. Let him be a member of the Emperor's Children, whose face gets shredded off by the Brian Blessed Dreadnought that Ailaros mentioned.
