Hi guys!

I'm thinking about using an old gorkamorka model as a count as nob, it's the old special character wurzag the scrap collector if i remember his name right...

As you can see, he's a bit shorter than an average nob, but with the backpack, he's bulkier.
I'm also considering cutting off the pick-head and magnetizing it, and a cut-down PK, so I can switch between uge choppa and PK.
I think he'll be rather noticable in a mob, and stand out enugh, but:

What do you think/feel about this??

I think its your army and the model is suitable different to all the other ork range that it will stand out. Biggest isn't always meanest

An Ork is an Ork; rank is defined by the fancy gubbins you throw on him and how smashy he is. I'd be entirely fine with it.

are you worried about tournament legality? if so well...i guess thats a tuff one, i mean he is an ork n he is GW sooo the only thing that should really matter is how you present him on paper, if you say he is so and so and he has this n that and illustrate it on him which you are planning on doing then i would not argue with that, but then tournament is tournament so don't take my word for it.

i use a couple non GW models n i just ask if people are cool with it, and i have never herd a no so far. but would totally understand not beign able to use it in a tournament for my situation.

I think your idea with the scrap collector is awesome i say go for it, make it kick ass, and i bet people will be well impressed mate.

I'm a tad wortied about tournament compatability, yes.
I've never attended one, but, I want to be sure that if I do attend one, I won't be disqualified, or docked points for such a simple thing...

I like it and would play against it - but if you're looking at using it for tourney's yeah, there might be an issue.

I highly doubt there would be any issue with fielding this miniature at tournaments. Unless I'm mistaken, it's 100% GW.

If you're still concerned, you could:

1) Call/visit your local Games Workshop, explain the idea, ask whether it would be suitable in a tournament.
2) Call/email the tournament organiser(s), and do the same.

Best of luck,

If height's the only issue, just base him standing on some battlefield rubble to bring him up to normal nob height.

What will he count-as being armed with? I can see you might need to modify his pickaxe or other arm, but that shouldn't be hard.

Wysiwyg is the.only.consideration you should worry with.

Also... height can be an issue with.some pedants accusing of 'modelling for.advantage'... which is easily fixed

Whats the height difference, 2mm? Someone who cries "modeling for advantage" on that mini is someone you probably dont want to play against anyways. If your stuck playing against them, like in a tournament, then at least you know your gonna be in for a bad game...

No TO would object, as long as he's armed appropriately. Looks great to me.

Good to hear lads!

Now I'm having a spot of trouble coming up with a good way of getting the pick-axe switchable with a pk... His arm and body is to interwowen just to make a cut, add a magnetized pk, and magnetize the pick..

Suggestions on how to "get the lad" a pk without ruining this awsome sculpt too much?

Unless you're giving him a swanky gun too just give him a right arm pk, which you can magnetize if you like of course. Chuck a slugga on somewhere and you're done. Maybe not even that, he looks like he's got pretty much everything in that pack. As for the 'uge choppa, his pick is pretty gnarly as is.

Aye nothing stopping you sculpting a sling or even a bit of rope with green stuf - then slinging a Slugga over on of his shoulders - that ork can then shoot, and will have a uge choppa AND a powerklaw - so its then just a case of making sure on paper you have what he is armed with - and a back story for your named nob - aka his favourate weapon is a choppa so he always carries one, but due to neccasaty of rank he was given a Powerklaw which is for what he uses in combat, the slugga he caould easily pull out at a given notice - if you put a spear haed on the bottom of the staff - it could show he simply digs the staff into the ground grabs the slugga and fires away

Change the pickaxe head for a weird orky invention shaped like a mechanical claw/fist - that should avoid any in-game confusion re it counting-as a power claw. And it would look cool.

Noproblem with that at all but maybe you could sell him on E-bay and get a whole squad of nobs with he proceeds.

I love the model aswell, hence I'm having some trouble how to modify him to be WYSIWYG without loosing too much character...

Or if I should just keep him standard, and field him as a weirdboy, since he actually was one...

But since he was sneaky, and tough, and will see way more gametime as a kommando nob... Gah! If only uge choppas weren't so worthless...

'Uge choppas? Worthless? How?
They're 1/5 the cost of a pk, and a4 at s7 and i4 on the charge is pretty damn good vs all but the heaviest infantry, and more than enough to take out most vehicles. Against fnp, sure, but any decent kommando unit should have a couple of burnas in it anyway.

As long as he is on the CORRECT size base and his wargear is a least recognizable then I would have no issues with it. I would love to play against armies with more "Character" to them than what GW issues....
