So I'm working on my 500pt Necron list for an escalation league starting next week. I'm contemplating the pros and cons of destroyers vs tomb blades. I love the fact that the destroyers are basically marine killers with their S5 AP3 cannons but then there's the twin linked S5 tesla carbine with the potential for extra hits and the TBs are upgradeable. Has anyone done the mathhammer on these guys? Opinions/experiences about each?

At 500 points, I would probably not take destroyers, as that's a huge amount of points at that level.
If you decide to take Tomb Blades, it's best to keep them as cheap as possible. Don't get caught up in all the upgrades they can take, as that will drive up their price. The Particle beamer is really the only upgrade I'd ever consider taking on them.

Yeah, I was thinking about taking the upgrade that brings them to a 3+. I almost don't mind missing a few shots with a second chance to roll a 6 so i don't think I'd take the BS upgrade. Doing it that way I ended up with a unit of 4 and a unit of 3.

Taking the particle beamer and the armor save upgrades will make them around the same price of a destroyer. However, it would be more effective at killing hordes. At 500pts though, take the blades and run them with the carbines, or blasters with you want to kill tanks.

You really want to mess with your opponent? Play a monolith. Hilarious at 500 points. If you want to win - best bet is use cheap and effective units like Annihilation Barges, Scarabs, destroyer lords with MSS (145), or wraiths.
Gauss Tomb Blades might be a little more high value than tesla because of the autoglance feature and ap4; but tesla is great for hordes, especially twin linked.

Oh yeah, Dlords are great at small games. They get a free scythe and rerolls to hit. Deathmarks aren't too bad either. 5 of them are only about 95pts, and they will seriously ruin your opponent's day when they arrive.

They're a bit too suicidal for my tastes. They tend to drop in, not really kill much (without a despair cryptek in the unit) and promptly get wiped.
My advice would be to spend the free points you have on some wraiths, they provide beautiful counter assault and can also deal with vehicles very well.

Junk here probably has the best advice for 500 points, I think he is spot on.

Deathmarks are a suicide unit, after all, lol. I wouldn't take them until higher points, but they are really great.

I love deathmarks, they're a lot of fun, especially as death-star hunters. It's like having Luke in an X-wing, trusting the force.
At 500 points, you run the risk of running into Draigo + 4 Paladins and an OXquisitor with Rad/Psycho Grenades. If that happens, you'll be so glad you picked deathmarks.
