I was playing around this weekend on a tripple Deathmark build with units like the following:

Obyron
Lord w/Voidblade/MSS/RO
Lord w/Voidblade/MSS
10 X Deathmarks

480 points

And doing something similiar to the other two, obviously one with Nemesor and the other with an overlord of some sort, was thinking Trazyn to make it scoring, and then VeilTeks and some other jazz.

What do ya'll think? They would be some nasty units against their targets, I'm afraid they might struggle a bit once they've cleaned their marks though. More viable maybe would to keep the other two DM squads cheap just to have more marked targets for Oby and his crew to slice threw.

I don't know, I generally keep my deathmark units as suicide units. I don't think 'd ever take anything more than a Veiltek on them.

Remember, Trazyn doesn't make the unit scoring, it's just HE is scoring.

I basically field a squad to take down an IC, or a Monstrous Creature that I don't field like dealing with. I don't count on them surviving the attempt. Worked well against an Ork force, wiped out a squad of 7 lootas with rapid-fire in a turn once his wave of boys had left them behind on an objective, providing long-range fire on my warrior phalanxes.

They are very good with HfH but I see them more as a suicide squad as opposed to being a deathstar - they just don't have the resilience of say Paladins or a mob of Nobz. As Sasori said I would just run them with a Veiltek.

I think that squad is overkill to the Nth degree.

I've found that 1x Veiltek and 5x Deathmarks can generally take out a 10-man marine squad, so anything more is just a points sink. For the same price that you're paying with your Death Star, you can have 3 of these units, which will certainly get to do a lot more damage than just the one.

on the forum. Obviously

Yeah word of advice on deathmarks - Go small. A 5 man squad has a much lower chance of mishapping than a 10 man squad.
It also doesn't hurt as much when the enemy retaliates for killing his TH/SS termies.

A better use would be to attach your two maxed deathmark units to Phaerons with Res Orbs and throwing them in night scythes. They can get wherever they need to be, deposit themselves outside of assault range, and still fire at the full 24", supported by the Tesla-destructor of the night scythe at the same range.

Try a squad of 5 deathmarks and a Destroyer lord, a res orb and weave if you want but MSS is MANDATORY, they can still use HfH and deepstriking when the opponent puts a unit on, this allows them to shoot things to death, kill things in melee, and the DL can even break off and attack else where. Even if all they do is kill the unit you had them mark and deleiver the DL to wreak havoc, still makes them worth it by a FAR margin

Using HfH on a Warcythe is a waste of points.

First, you have to get into CC. While the Deathmarks can handle their prey in CC thanks to HfH, this is not their optimum situation, and you cannot utilize the Warscythe in the same turn you Veil to your target. Yes, it's a strong weapon, but that's not the point.

The idea behind HfH is that you wound on a 2+, even if you're shooting with a potato gun. So what's the point of doubling up the 2+ to wound ability with a weapon that's already going to wound on a 2+ anyway?

Volume of fire is the way to go when you're using Hunters From Hyperspace. That means the best two options will be Tremorteks and Despairteks; however Tremorteks' do not negate armour saves with their blast templates. That's why the Despairtek is so lethal: he's going to land at least 3x wounds, and those wounds will always stick. If you're really looking to add to a min squad of Deathmarks with an attached Despairtek, the best choice to add would be a second Despairtek.

However, I do like Junk's idea of keeping the Deathmarks at range. 10x Deathmarks with 1x Veiltek and 1x Phaeron has some appeal thanks to the range. They'll kill 5 marines per round of shooting on average.
