I thought only Mortis and Grey Knight Dreadnoughts could do that.

PM me if you want me to draw anything related to Warhmmer 40k. I will put it in my gallery for all to see.

That's um... very yellow. It's well painted though, and while I don't care for the color scheme too much I appreciate how bold it is. The freehand text and chapter emblem are fantastic, and while I think a little detail is blown out by the lighting (did you use your camera's flash?) it's a good looking model. The one thing I would urge you to change, however, is the skull and wings on the sarcophagus. The gold blends in too much with the yellow and is kinda lost. Great work though!

Nope Vanilla marines can use twin-linked autocannons.

TheCyben: Seriously though, I'm not advocating GW to model any Boosh characters. If they have to pick one, it would have to be Tony Harrisson... but that would be an outrage.

Thanks Brother SRM! Yeah, the color scheme is a bit eccentric, but I'm tethered to the Scythes of the Emperor by nostalgia. And yes, I used my camera's flash as it was difficult to achieve proper lighting. Also, the satin finish I use has a slightly glossy sheen which was accentuated by the flash. Thanks

Those came from Games Workshop's Aegis Defence Line kit. Pretty simple conversion

I love the Scythe's, they were almost annihilated by the 'nids, and have a fantastic back story. Fighting them in boarding actions of Bioship's, talk about taking the fight to the enemy.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

I keep hearing about the scythes and their awesome fluff, but I haven't seen any of it yet... is it wrapped up in codex books or something from black library?

on topic: really sharp lines on that dread. the yellow's a bit bold for me, but it's nice and clean. I was also going to ask where you picked up the autocannon's from (the chasis is from the aobr box, right?), but someone else already answered that

As far as I know, they've only been mentioned briefly in a few codices, White Dwarf issues and old standalone games. But, they also have a Black Library short story written about them. Check out Orphans of the Kraken in Legends of the Space Marines

Here's a terrific compilation of their canon history: The Scythes of the Emperor : A Factual History [PDF]. Even the author of the short story used it for research IIRC

I really like the shadowing on your metallic parts. The silver bits, especially on the gun barrels, came out phenomenal. I'm not too crazy about the name in the banner on the leg, though. Personally I like it to be a little more centered, with the letters not out to the edge, but I seem to be in the minority on that one. If you like it that way, more power to you! It's also nice to see a fairly under represented Chapter, I must say. I'll bet you don't often run into other Scythes of the Emperor players.

Both the vanilla codex Dread and Ven. Dread can replace their Multi Melta *and* Dread CCW with Twin Linked Autocannons (surprised no-one mentioned specifics until now apart from a couple of 'yes' haha).
