I just finished taking pics of a commission on the GW 25th Anniversary Model. I tried to paint it as close as possible to the original. The base sand is a bit darker than the original model, but I think it looks better in person. The amount of Graveyard earth they used in the pic washes out I think. I have more pics in my Gallery if you are interested. Including those without the Box Backdrop.

I think the only difference between yours and the Box's are the highlights aren't as stark on your blues

Yeah, I tend to paint a bit more muted than many of the display stuff. I come from a background in historical painting (modeling) and can't seem to break that habit. When I so super highlights it 'feels' wrong to me. Works better for photos, but I just don't like it in person., Oh, and due to the temperature outside, it isn't clearcoated. Once clearcoated, the dark parts should come out darker and the bright parts pop a little more,

It looks great. I just kinda wish the model it self wasn't a Crimson fist model, Or i'd try and get you to paint one for me.

He came over and picked up the model today. Absolutely loved it. Hopefully I'll be doing his black templar army, I'm really short of funds and I could use the smooze.

Looks great. Out of interest how much did you charge for that?

Amazing, do you have a website for pricing and the like? Your work is out standing.

Fantastic job, could only hope mine turns out half as good as this.

However I don't think I'll be painting mine for a while yet, Like my copy of Space Hulk. Only to be painted when I fell I'm good enough to do a worthy job on it.

Only thing I see of major difference is the reds. The Eavy Metal one uses Red Gore and Bleached Bone as its lightening color whereas it looks like you used Blood Red with white.

Wonderfully done!

I have a question... How much (if any) resculpting / hole filling was required because of the model being Finecast?

Quick question, I have to paint mine, but do you use ultramarines blue, or another blue?

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

OK, Thank you all very much. And in response to some of the above questions, in reverse order.

I skipped UM Blue all together. I started with the foundation midnight blue, can't think of it's name off the top, then regal and then Ice.

I don't have a website, besides photobucket, which is under cypherkk for accounts. So, I don't really have standard pricing per se, but, I usually charge somewhere along the line of cost, double cost, and triple. Base value, minimum $3 a model or cost, whichever is greater, characters are $20 or cost... and so forth. Some exceptions are made of course, and very specific models can vary.

For instance, I didn't charge nearly what I should have for that model. I just wanted to paint it, Part of it was trade for another model which I wanted for my RT era Crimson Fist army. But after having painted it, I'd say 100-300 dollars to paint another.

Generally I use (as I was taught) bleached bone for cloth and white for metal, But I didn't use white on the blood red, I think it was orange. and yellow, maybe a thin line of white on top to get rid of the "fiery" look. But I may give that a try, using the bleached bone as a blend for red gore instead of Blood red. (Currently I do foundation Marcharite red, red gore blood red and in this case washed back down with badab black.)

As for the fine cast. I took me roughly most of a day to clean and fix the fine cast errors. Even then, I didn't find some till I started painting.

In this case, it took way longer than I anticipated to paint. Mostly due to the flag, but also oddly due to the base. There's really a lot of little extra details in it, you don't really think about.
