Subject: 14th of July as a possible 6th ed release date? (Updated OP 05/05/12)

I was checking out the warhammer world calender earlier and the 14th of July is looking a bit suspicious.
Design studio open day.
New art exhibition.
Weird "Cataclysm" 40k event on the 15th of July
See your yourself http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?catId&categoryId=3500001§ion&aId=14300120a
Image for the lazy.
This reminds me of a rumor on these boards from last year which also suggests a 14th release date based of a leaked memo.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/407941.page
Again image for the lazy.
Let the wild speculation begin!

(Updated 05/05/12)
*************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
There have been some updates to the Warhammer World calendar and events page recently so I thought I would resurect this with some updated information and more wild speculation.
The Cataclysm event is a 4 game 1250 point mini tourny presumably to encourage visitors from the open day to stay the weekend, no event pack so far.
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?catId=&categoryId=3500001§ion=&aId=20900013a
August 18th ( Imperial Armour Warmarch )
The Imperial Armour Warmarch event pack is quite interesting as it references the FOC several times for army building, assuming 6th edition comes out on the 14th of July and this was written for these rules then the FOC will be present in 6th edition.
As most will know the general rumor is a return to the 2nd edition40K/Fantasy style percentage based army construction, this event pack would suggest that a percentage based restriction is an addition to the existing FOC rather then a replacement.
Let the wild speculation begin!

If it comes out July 14th, it comes out two days before my birthday. I smell an expensive personal birthday present (collectors edition!!) for me.

Comment by Harry:
I would expect the rule book to be released before this.
In the past I have already had my special edition rule books and been able to turn up to this event with them to get them signed.
Also this is a holiday in France. Not that GW's release schedules consider holidays outside UK, given that the 8th Warhammer Fantasy release was on 4th July

Well....
The existence of a science fiction table top game in development by Games Workshop was made known through Citadel Journal in 1986 and Rogue Trader was officially released at Games Workshop's annual Games Day event in October 1987.
So, a true 25th ann edition would be Oct 2012...... Automatically Appended Next Post: of course a summer releaase would be better & make sense.... Automatically Appended Next Post: May 20th (5+20=25)
June 19th (6+19=25)
July 18th (7+18=25)
Aug 17th (8+17=25)

Well going on current release schedule/White Dwarf tie in, July 7th seems more likely.
I'm just waiting for some kind of sign. The current week before release set up seems to go against a full edition release, as that seems way to claustrophobic for collectors editions and the like.
Will be an interesting test.

Yeah a bran dnew game replacing 40k "Finehammer 40k" which includes "The finest rules known to man, with Finehammer, you can have the most out of your hobby as you utilise some of the most modern rulesets ever"
And of course, the release will not be the second coming of christ we were promised.

Let me guess. With the release of Finehammer, the book would come pre-eaten by book worms. Pages would fall out upon opening and then later gw would release a a 50$ set of tap and moth balls to deal with the mess.
Back on topic. I for one would be really stoked to see a 6th ed with some of the ambiguity cleaned up in the rules set.

Or, we could, you know, talk about the topic rather than making old jokes... As they say old joke is old. Its just annoying now that we can't have a thread without these jokes.
It seems very much like we will get a preview in the june 30th (july issue) WD the release two weeks later on the 14th.
Hopefully filling up some missing modles next month, chaose in may, this in july and DA in september.

2 months before Ard Boys would be a great way to drive up sales as people have to adjust their ard boys armies to 6th ed.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

If it does turn out to be 6th, I hope we all remember to give Chi Bodge-Battle much love for pointing out what "Project Prisoner" meant on that sheet, because that was obscure as hell.

wow, I guess I missed that before.
There are still quite a few die hard Prisoner fans in the UK even now (I used to work with one)
Thats just the sort of geeky reference I could imagine one of the more senior Devs pitching as the project name for 6th edition.

Last i heard, 6th ed was suppose to come out in may. Now July? I wonder if GW will bring back the pocket rule book. And i wonder if you will be able to buy this thing with out having to buy the starter box. I remember having to carry around the BRB. Then i finally got my hands no a pocket one. I could break things any more, but the up shot was that, I couldn't break things any more. It will be interesting to see what happens with the next ed. Every one i know is saying they will nerf mech back down. I am hoping not.

We shouldn't believe a new edition is coming out in July at all. There would definitely be signs of their most important release when it's only 3 months away.
Instead we have nothing.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

I believe they did a similar thing when 5th came out, pretty sure a tournie was right in the headlights for the release date, but they just stayed for 4th for that edition.
The also do a similar thing when new codexes come out.
