I want one to use as a Looted Wagon with Rokkit Launcha

I've rarely seen them played, TBH, and they never seem to get to shoot before dying.

Yes people use deathstrikes. Not that often though. I liken them to more like a guard players "experimental phase" when they first start playing the codex. Who didn't see that unit and get jittery thinking of how awesome it will be. Then of course being let down when it actually is used.

That being said, when I am feeling extra ambitious I'll throw one into a 2500 point game.

My buddy used one against me once. Fired in Turn 2, and landed right wher he wanted it, wiping out a large group of gants. Lucky git...

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Were the gaunts worth more than the missile?

I firmly believe that a Deathstrike has no place on a battlefield othee than as an objective. Its an ICBM, not a tactical missile

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

They were about the same cost.

I used it a few times. It got to fire every game and was only let down once when it missed everything. I always put one in when playing a Games Workshop mega battle or if doing apocalypse, I use it as a vortex missile launcher. I'm not saying it's the best, just a lot of fun when you got half the store chanting "Deathstrike Deathstrike etc.." and the collective "Awwwww" when I roll to fire and it can't. Same with marbo or Al'reham which I always like to field in those types of games.

sorry for the tangent..

40k is as exciting as riding a pony, which doesn't sound very exciting.......

But the pony is 300 feet tall and covered in CHAINSAWS!

It's one of those things where if it hits it can do a lot of damage, but it's a lot of points relying on luck. They are really fun to use so you'll see them a lot in fun games and campaigns but in competitive tournaments you will probably not see one.

It's my favorite vehicle in IG, but I don't play it competitively, or against Blood Angels since they can metla the crap out of it on turn one. But I love it in casual games with friends because it kinda feels like a race against the clock for them lol. Makes it a bit more interesting.

The deathstrike solves any problem for guard. It just needs to fire.

Ignoring all cover and armor does wonders for killing stuff. Also hitting all levels underneath the template does as well.
