Spellink asside this is total nonsense.

Men can donate blood and organs to women, women can donate to men. We're the same dang species!

GW created female space marine models during RT, their tabs even read 'female space marines'. And I think Rick Priestly knew a bit more about the 40k universe than whatever intern wrote the last codex.

A few years back the Inquisitor game included a character obviously intended to be a female marine named Artemis. I mean seriously, are we to think that no one in GW knew Artemis is a goddess' name?

this whole 'no girls allowed' thing looks to me like a case of fans (and current writers) who still think girls have coodies.

Well now.
That shut me up, didn't it!?

Seriously though, I'd love the idea of female Space Marines... But I guess that's why I have such a soft spot for Sisters of Battle. Anywho, wasn't it more to do with the Black Carapace interface?
That's why SoB can't utilize their Power-Armours full potential.

It's kinda of ironic though.
The Imperium of man can devise Titan Cannons that can decimate entire armies.
They've built ships that travel throughout the galaxy.
They've manufactured the greatest technology ever seen, but they can't figure out how to implant the Black Carapace over/under some bewbs.

Strayed a bit off Topic here. My Little pony Marines........Hmmmmmmmmm.......well on the upside your opponants well revel in their destruction. On the downside , they will choke on sure rage when your rainbows and sparkles destroy a squad of theirs. This does lend itself to several Off shoot ideas, Like the Carebears of Khorne, Straw berry shortcake sisters of Battle, Hive fleet Fraggle, Tela-Tau-Tubbies, The Imperial Seasmae Street fighters, etc...

FYI, google "MLP space marines" and there are thousands of results.

This is not a new idea.

This is not a good idea.

However that's just my opinion, you seem to like MLP. A lot. That's fine, we all have our passions, if someone made a piece of terrain that looked like the Serenity ship I would probably clap my hands like a little girl myself.

That being said, it's never a good idea to let yourself be defined by a brand or franchise. Which is what happens when you come into your local game store with a hello kitty army, or a nazi army, or a MPL army, or a furry army, or an army based off The Office. These are indelible marks that will placed on you by your peers, marks which will haunt you long after you grow tired of them.

As I said, it's just my opinion, but it's really not that funny to anyone who's not a MLP fan. And it's not a new concept. Like many internet sub-cultures, you'll have the small handful of people who loooove it, even if for no other reason than because they share the culture with you, and a large majority of people who don't get it all and will give you some polite "uh huh, that's funny" comments.

In the end it depends on presentation really, if you put enough energy into something you can pull of almost any gag or gimmick.

edit: I should also point out, that in addition to the people who don't get it, you'll get plenty of haters. Some people really have negative reactions to sub-cultural references like MLP, probably because of the vocal minority who are extremely obsessive/defensive/perverted about it.

There will be some nerd rage. Some people take our toy soldiers more seriously than is warranted. That having been said, I remember back in the day ('92? No, earlier...I couldn't drive yet) a guy at the FLGS rocking some converted plastic IG, the original ones. Each one had its name painted on the back of its flak jacket. One of them had a pair of skis on its back, fairly well done I should add. I think he used sprues or something as plasticard wasn't really available back then. The name was that of a buddy of his who also played, who spent a lot of time skiing but couldn't seem to get the hang of it. Once I was in on the joke it sort of made sense.

I mean, come on...GW has been doing this sort of thing since the beginning. Anyone remember when there was no attack bike, but you could have a Vincent Black Shadow? Hell, Leman Russ is still with us. They've been joking for so long that some of the jokes have been forgotten and/or are no longer relevant. They're still joking about their products on a regular basis; check your codex for details. I'm not entirely sure why a certain subgroup gets offended by stuff like this.

I have a really hard time understanding why this theme is so popular in the WH40 universe, it really is taking things too far I think. Marines coloured in the scheme of Optimus Prime? Yep, that looks good and believable. Marines coloured in schemes of rather silly and overt cartoon horses? Hrrrmmmm...

Then again I might be biased because I never liked MLP - being a boy and all. However if it's for your own satisfaction go right ahead, just don't expect people to be blown away or find them hilarious in all instances.

I didn't know all those things were brands or franchises. I'd sure like to buy a nazi franchise. And maybe brand it furries! Seriously though, who gives a feth what the other nerds think. It's your money, your little toys. If they make fun of you they're just hiding some insecurity or other. Sure if you walked in to the store I frequent with a full MLP army, I'd say "Cool Story Bro," and probably bust out my big bad NAZI Steel Legion so you could whoop me up. This damn hobby gets taken so super srs...

Try to play with a nazi army and you'll get "branded" alright.

That's totally true and right in all regards. Unfortunately, it rarely works out that way in the real world, simply because we all are part of this hobby for the very purpose of interacting with said nerds, and having our talents, abilities or attitude recognized in one way or another. I've only seen a small, scant few people who truly don't care what people think, people that are so genuinely happy with their work, happy to be playing with friends, that they let criticism roll off their back. These are awesome people, people who's attitude defines them, not their offbeat style or unorthodox art. These are players who you remember for just being so much fun to be around, not because they played with an army of salt-shakers painted ultramarine blue. If you can be that kind of person, you've achieved some kind of zen that most of us are nowhere close to.

I took a nazi army to a pretty big tournament in Portland called OFCC. My first match up was against an ultramarines army painted like Captain America, with the good 'ole Cap leading 'em. My LC (based off of David Carradine in the wonderful movie "Misfit Brigade") challenged Cap to one on one combat and went down like a sack of potatoes, just like WWII. We had a good laugh, and the rest of the weekend was a hoot. My point is that nerd culture is heavily prevalent today. I know a couple "Bronies." I don't think he's gonna get hung from a fence because someone thinks men shouldn't play with pink marines. True, he may get teased, but once again who cares. If my entire sense of self worth came from my warhammer armies bein accepted I'd have shot myself a long time ago.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Besides, they're Slanesh. And painted fairly well I might add
